Job description:
The operator position entails performing tasks along the various packaging and palletizing lines to ensure proper packaging of salt and subsequent transfer of product into the warehouse area. This includes operating, monitoring and adjustment of the various filler/packaging/ palletizing equipment, loading various salt product containers for filling, and performing various tasks pertaining to the packaging and palletizing processes.
The shift is 10 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. Sunday-Thursday
Principal accountabilities:
Operation of the various line packaging and product loading equipment including:
* Automatic ThieleBaggersMini Bulk Big Bag Loading Station
* Stretchwrappers
* Palletizers
* Computerdata entry to input product identification and process stoppage information.
* Utilizecomputer to access production schedule and input production information.
* Loadsalt product packages into the various filling and packing equipment includingbags, big bags and cardboard boxes.
* Loadaccessory packaging materials manually or with mechanical hoists in the variouspackaging areas including shrink wrap, slip sheets and top cover plasticsheeting.
* Performquality control duties for various filled salt containers including bags, bigbags and cases. This includes taking salt samples and weighingproduct and recording results accordingly.
* Performpreventative maintenance on the packaging and product loading/transfer equipmentas needed.
* Drive/operateHi-Lo for product and material transfer into the warehouse.
* Inputproduct information for labeling into computer.
* ApplyWMS label to all pallets of finished product and scan into production.
* Drive aHi-Lo for raw material storage/retrieval, product transfer, and emptyinghoppers.
* Manipulatesalt bags or packed cases for proper palletizing, reconfiguration of loadedpallets or spillage cleanup as needed.
* Liftempty wood pallets and miscellaneous packaging from raw materials.
* Lift andcarry cull bags of salt to waste salt hopper.
* Performgeneral cleanup of the work area including sweeping, shoveling, blowing downwith compressed air and lifting various salt product packages as needed.
* Ascend/descendstairs in various areas to access work stations and other equipment.
* Willingand able to work any shift required Monday through Sunday, including shifts upto 12 hours in length
* Bephysically able to perform the job duties including bending, stooping,shoveling, sweeping, pounding with hammers, climbing stairs and ladders,opening and closing valves
* Right towork in the U.S. that is not based solely on possession of a student visa or avisa sponsored by a third-party employer
* Willingand able to work overtime, weekends, and holidays, with limited notice
* Basiccomputer operation skills to perform data entry for product identification andprocess stoppage information and scanning product into inventory
* Documentationskills to record quality control information
* Liftingup to 60 lb packaged salt products and packaging materials at variouslevels. This can be a frequent requirement depending on need.
* Shovelingor sweeping for general cleanup of work area and salt spillage cleanup. This can be a frequent requirement depending on need
Requirements:
* Right to work in the U.S. that is not based solely on possession of a student visa or a visa sponsored by a third-party employer.
* Cargill requires that employees be a minimum of 18 years old
* Positive Attitude and Problem Solving skills.
* Be physically able to perform the job duties including extended periods of standing, bending, stooping, shoveling, sweeping, and continually lifting up to 60lbs.
* Proficient in basic arithmetic skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).
* High attention to detail and ability to follow procedures/directions and complete tasks in a timely manner.
* Availability to work outside of normal shift up to including weekend and off shift hours as needed.
* Ability to effectively communicate with team members and address concerns with appropriate parties.
Preferred:
* Experience in a manufacturing environment.
* Willingness to advance skillset.
* Experience with SAP and/or HMI
* Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and in a positive manner
