The Financial Analyst will perform the finance, accounting and operational support activities for twenty plus (20 +) company managed properties. Duties will include monthly financial reporting and analysis, forecasting, budgeting, cash flow analysis, asset management, ensuring compliance with legal contracts and agreements for assigned properties. The Financial Analyst will also be a primary corporate contact for hotel personnel and many ownership groups and will be expected to perform routine responsibilities with moderate supervision or review. The Financial Analyst will make routine and non-routine decisions with guidance from President. 

Essential Functions:

  • Monthly close of financial statements related to assigned hotel portfolio in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and with Paragon accounting policies to include recording of journal entries, analysis, inquiries, and review 
  • Responsible for determining and prescribing accounting treatment for more complex transactions 
  • Prepare Cash Flow Statements and analysis of cash position related to cash needs or excess cash distribution to ownership 
  • Prepare Balance Sheet Analysis to assure the validity of all balance sheet account balances and the proper support for those balances exists and is readily available 
  • Analyze capital reserve balances to include accurate calculation of reserve requirements as defined in Management or Debt Agreements 
  • Properly fund capital reserves based upon accurate calculation of reserve requirements as defined in Management Agreements and/or Loan Documents 
  • Act as the liaison and point of contact between and for Hotel Owners, Corporate and Hotel Team Members 
  • Act as the liaison and point of contact between bankers and hotel owners
  • Develop loan packages for banks when applying for a loan
  • Monitor internal controls for individual hotels 
  • Receive and resolve inquiries or problems for Hotels, Ownership, or other departments (Bank Recon, Sales Tax, Payroll, A/P, Corporate) 
  • Responsible for miscellaneous inquiries and projects requested from Hotel, Hotel Ownership, or Corporate 
  • Responsible for finalizing and reviewing the operating and capital budgets and working with Operations and internal customers in the resolution of issues 
  • Ensure that budgets are accurate in regards to fixed costs and other expenses on which our department takes ownership 
  • Work with supervisor to ensure that proposed budgets are ready to be presented to the owners and in some cases may participate in budget presentations 
  • Ensure that monthly forecasts are accurate in regards to fixed costs and other expenses on which our department takes ownership 
  • Perform variance analysis to assess the impact to the hotel, the owner, and to Paragon 
  • Participate and/or assist President in special projects such as Hotel sales, Hotel purchases, gain/loss of Management Contracts, debt refinancing, and leading departmental training 
  • Responsible for having a good working knowledge of the related legal agreements, and with coaching from their supervisor, ensuring that Paragon and the individual hotel are in compliance with the terms of the applicable agreements, that risks associated with the contracts are assessed and minimized, and decisions are evaluated against contracts 
  • Prepare audit schedules for internal and external audits 
  • Ensure that audit reports are correct and complete

Requirements

What are we looking for?
To fulfill this role successfully, you must possess the following minimum qualifications and experience:

  • BA/BS Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • A minimum of two (2) years of working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • A minimum of two (2) years of applicable accounting experience
  • Proficient computer experience in Excel, Word, Windows, and Publisher
  • Must be able to work extended hours as needed
  • Must be able to travel if needed

It would be advantageous in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:

  • MA/MS Master's Degree in Business Administration
  •  A minimum of three (3) years of professional experience
  • Experience using PeopleSoft Financials
  • CPA
