Responsibilities: The LPN in the endoscopy suite works in the procedure room right alongside of the MD performing tasks and maneuvers as delegated to them from the Endoscopist. This hands-on position requires great technical skills as well as a vast knowledge of anatomy and physiology. The LPN plays a key role in collaborating with the MD and other members of the health care team to provide the best care possible to the patients. LPN's set up a room according to procedure type, MD preference and therapies or diagnostics that are ordered for the procedure. This role includes assisting the MD with equipment during the endoscopy procedure for ERCP, EUS and complex cases. Medical documentation, medication administration and review of the patient's history are all performed by the LPN. This role also includes time on our emergency bedside team who can be activated 24/7 to perform lifesaving endoscopies anywhere in the hospital. (002238)

Qualifications: Student or Graduate of a school of practical nursing or passed LPN Boards after a defined period in a professional nursing program (e.g. some states allow RN students to take the LPN board exam after completing one to two years in the RN program). If graduation did not occur within the last two years, one year of LPN experience working in an applicable setting is required.

Maintains Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) competency.

Additional Qualifications: Excellent communication skills (verbal and written). Experience working in a team environment. Strong keyboarding and computer application skills required, prior experience with electronic medical record systems preferred. Ability to work flexible hours. Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the work setting. Demonstrated leadership, effective communicator, and excellent critical thinking skills.

Occasional cross-coverage to the Gonda practice areas may be required as patient needs dictate.

License or Certification: Must obtain following licensure prior to starting position:

Current LPN license by applicable state requirements.

Midwest: Basic Cardiac Life Support for healthcare providers- BCLS -- certificate of course completion required and must not expire within 3 months after start date. A scanned copy of the certificate of completion or transcripts, including your full name, must be attached to your profile to be considered.

We will only accept certificates of course completion from the following providers:

* American Heart Association (Title: BLS for Healthcare Providers or BLS Provider)

* Red Cross (Title: CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers or BLS for Healthcare Providers)

* Military Training Network

Additional specialty certification/training as required by the work area.

Compensation Detail: Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum pay rate is $20.69 per hour.

Hours/Pay Period: 80 hours per 2 week pay period

Schedule Details: Monday -- Friday; variation of 8-hour shifts; on-call shifts will be an expectation following a successful orientation) -- NOT NEGOTIABLE
