The Division of Urology Oncology is looking for a clinical nurse. This position provides a broad range of primary and specialty care services to urology and urologic oncology patients. This role includes direct patient care, patient education, interdisciplinary collaboration, research utilization, consultation and management of care plan.
Principle Responsibilities
1. Provides direct patient care to urology patients in collaboration with the Attending Urologist in an outpatient setting and via telephone
2. Reviews laboratory results and other clinical information pertinent to patient health, order appropriate tests and other ancillary services as needed, and develop nursing care plans for patients.
3. Provides teaching to patients and their families regarding disease processes, diagnostic testing, self-catheterization and post-operative care.
4. Triages patients with physicians and other health care professionals in an outpatient setting and via telephone to provide quality care and to improve patient outcomes by strengthening continuity of care.
5. Administers medications, injections, installations and IV infusions, including chemotherapy agents, under the supervision of physicians.
6. Assists physicians with ambulatory procedures and treatments.
7. Completes patient history and disability forms, and phone-in prescriptions as needed.
8. Responsible for coordinating procurement and storage of clinical supplies and medications.
9. Supports physicians with clinical trials and other research activity.
10. Works on special projects and perform other related duties assigned or requested by Department Administrator
11. Functions within the standards of practice established by Division of Nursing and American Nurses Association Standards of Clinical Practice. Acts within the policies and procedures of the University, hospital, division, and clinical department Minimum Qualifications for Grade
Applicant MUST meet these minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus four years of related experience. Additional Position-Specific Minimum Qualifications
