Position Summary:

Developsand designs quality treatment plans and Performs dosimetry calculations foroptimization of external beam. Performs all treatment planning forRadiation Oncology patients, including calculations, treatment planningcomputer operation and CT planning.

Bachelor'sDegree Required

Licensure/Certification:

MRTor ARRT

Minimum Knowledge,Skills, and Abilities:

Demonstrates a workingknowledge of dosimetry, simulation and radiation treatment equipment

Demonstrates visual, auditory and sensory acuity when performing tasks

Superior professional medical skills and judgment obtained from hands-onpatient care experience

Exceptional oral and written communication skills required for medical recorddocumentation and prescription management, as well as dealing with otheremployees, physicians, patients and general public

High degree of proficiency with computers and printers including treatmentplanning systems

PositionResponsibilities:

1. Designs,plans and evaluates complex and specialized dosimetry cases, including thecalculation of volumetric and dose information and portal images for radiationoncology treatments which involve computer controlled segmental conformal 3.dimensional treatment techniques

2. RegularlyAssists in patient simulation with tumor localization, including analysis of CTand MRI for treatment planning

3. Assistsas needed in patient simulation, in field localization and in acquisition ofdosimetry data

4. Obtainsmanual contours and measurements of patients to assure proper treatment plan

5. Performsin-vivo measurements, using measurement tools such as thermoluminescentdosimeters and diodes

6. Assistsin the fabrication of custom block modifications, bolus compensators, casting,masks, wedges, shields and any other beam or patient-positioning modifyingdevices

7. Assistswith radiation therapy treatments

8. Checkstreatment plan and present radiation treatment options to radiation oncologistsfor their selection as needed

9. Servesas technical support and liaison between physician, physicist and treatmentstaff in coordinating treatment plans, changes in treatment plans and changesin policies and procedures

10. Supervisesand/or assist the technology staff in the implementation of the treatment planas requested

11. Performsdosimetry quality assurance

12. Reviewspatient treatment records to verify proper documentation of treatment plan asrequested

13. Providestechnical assistance to the physicist in radiation protection, machinecalibrations, and quality assurance of patient-related equipment

14. Assistsphysicist in the design and implementation of research activities and Performsspecial projects related to dosimetry

15. Assists in training and education ofdepartmental staff, radiation therapy students, residents, post-doctoralfellows and new dosimetry staff in radiation therapy physics, treatmentplanning and related mathematical calculations
