The GeoEnvironmental and Remediation Services group is actively seeking a skilled Industrial Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator/Superintendent for Summer 2017 employment based out of the Germantown, Maryland office, but reporting daily to a worksite in Middle River, Maryland. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in operations and maintenance, preferably to industrial waste water treatment or environmental remediation systems. AECOM is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects in the DC Metro area spanning the Baltimore-Northern Virginia region. The incumbent can look forward to tasks including systems operations and maintenance, and environmental monitoring and sampling in support of our client.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

+ Holds main responsibility for operational success of a given treatment facility

+ As necessary, provides leadership, mentoring, and training to a two to three man operation, maintenance, and monitoring team

+ Leads regulatory and other required waste stream sampling procedures

+ Optimizes the operation and performance of industrial wastewater treatment systems through a thorough understanding of the individual system processes as well as the system as a whole

+ Records (paper and software) documentation and maintenance and installation data to be used in the preparation of scientific or engineering reports

+ Prepares monthly operating report deliverables with input from project manager

+ Performs routine repairs, maintenance and operational activities on a variety of systems and machinery

+ Installs and repairs components for machinery or equipment

+ Identifies and reports recurring problems, system errors, or issues

+ Recommends capital improvements to enhance system performance

+ Follows formal compliance policies related to safety and quality assurance

+ Participates in health and safety performance improvement efforts

+ Interacts regularly with, and reports to, on-site clients

Minimum Requirements

+ High school diploma or high school equivalency

+ 3+ years of experience in an Industrial Wastewater Treatment operational role, experience should include performing operational adjustments, maintenance, and troubleshooting of process equipment including equalization, media filtration, UV oxidation, granular liquid & vapor carbon adsorption, and neutralization.

+ Motivated self-starter who thrives on teamwork

+ Experience in the direct operation, maintenance, calibration and repair of, electrical components and equipment, relevant experience should include installation, operation, and service of PLCs, HMI and SCADA in work environment

+ Proven mechanical abilities with pumps, motors, flow meters, and pressure/level sensors

+ Experience in plumbing, HVAC, or other related machinery beneficial

+ Basic knowledge of power tools, hand tools and heavy equipment operation

+ Ability to perform basic computations and calculations

+ Basic knowledge of common spreadsheet and word processing software such as Microsoft Office products

+ Experience with or ability to be trained on a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) such as PM Coordinator

Preferred Qualifications

+ Completion of the 40-hr HAZWOPER course

+ Completion of the OSHA 30-hr Construction Safety course

+ Maryland Industrial Wastewater Class 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 Operator or Superintendent (preferred) Certification or ability to obtain via reciprocity
