JOB DESCRIPTION:

 POSITION TITLE: Sales and Marketing Manager

FSLA STATUS:  Exempt REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:  Ownership, General Manager

 POSITION SUMMARY:   Responsible for creating content, directing social media resources, marketing, advertising, Brand Integrity, and coordinating sales and catering activities.   Acts as the Brand Ambassador.  The key face of the Brand and responsible for media and public relations, guest issues, guest relations and satisfactory complaint resolution.

 POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  1. General Responsibilities:

• Communicate effectively with The General Manager and Ownership on key issues; including social media campaigns, marketing initiatives, media events and catered affairs.

• Create a positive work atmosphere for all team members while in the Shops.

• Uphold all Pielicious standards, policies and procedures by communicating through the chain of command.

• Support kitchen, management and ownership initiatives including roll-out of new and seasonal offerings and policy changes as they may occur from time to time.

• Provide direction to the management team for budgeting, forecasting, resources, strategy and personnel for the Sales and Marketing Department.

• Develop roll-out programs for campaigns and initiatives.

• Respond in a timely manner to all marketing, media, catering, sales and public relations inquiries.

 • Upon request from The General Manager take on special projects as assigned.

 

  1. Marketing:

 

• Coordinate Marketing efforts for the Durham location.

• Proactively and positively present The Pie Hole through Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, You Tube, Pinterest, Snapchat and other social media sites and applications as trends may dictate.

• Effectively Manage Yelp and other hospitality “feedback” and rating sites to gain maximal positive returns.

• Create marketing campaigns to attract first time guests.

• With the General Manager, help establish “Four Walls” and neighborhood marketing strategies.  

 

 

  1. Sales, Catering and Events

 

• Create a catering and events strategy and disseminate a written plan.

• Develop written protocols for catered events.

• Develop sales leads and sell catered events and/or large catering orders.

• Determine equipment needs for Shops to successfully fulfill event requirements.

• Create catering menus with guidelines and descriptions.

• Develop sales campaigns and collateral to build the catering and events business.

• Assist General Manager and trainers to instill a sales mentality within the Shops via workshops, written training, materials or presentations.

• Coordinate and supervise catered event execution.

 

  1. Guest Relations

 

• To the extent possible, successfully resolve all guest or client complaints initiated by email, phone or social media sites (Yelp, Urban Spoon, etc.)

• Respond to hellodurham@thepieholela.com inquiries and distribute to the appropriate person for answers and/or resolution.

• Develop an email database and provide regular updates, events and notifications to drive repeat business.

• With the General Manager, help establish “Regulars” or neighborhood based programs as deemed appropriate

 

  1. Media and Public Relations

• Work with current marketing company on :

• Media relations for routine articles and promotional opportunities.

• Develop outreach projects to ensure a constant media and community presence.  

• Responses to all media requests for information.

• Image Management as relates to adverse or potentially adverse publicity.

 

 IN ADDITION TO THE PERFORMANCE OF THE ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS THE SALES AND MARKETING MANAGER WILL BE EVALUATED ON THE FOLLOWING LEADERSHIP QUALITIES:

   MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 • WORKING KNOWLEDGE OF:  Marketing and Sales standards, procedures and policies in a hospitality businesses; food and beverage knowledge; food Presentation and creation of programs and written protocols.  

• SKILL IN: Interpersonal relationships with all levels of executives, management and staff; conflict resolution and management.

• ABILITY TO: Delegate with authority in a positive and effective manner; ability to speak at length about The Pie Hole Brand.

• SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, PROFESSIONAL, ETC.)  High School Diploma or GED required, Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing or Hospitality Management preferred.  Other combinations of hospitality operations, sales, media and marketing experience may substitute for education.  Computer proficiencies with Windows and Mac Operating Systems; Office, Power Point, Excel and Word.  Valid driver’s license and clean MVR.

 

 

IN ADDITION TO ALL DUTIES OUTLINED IN THE ABOVE, THE FOLLOWING DUTIES AND DEPARTMENTAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

 • The ability to speak, see, hear, read and write.

• Mobility and manual dexterity.

• The ability to bend, stoop, perform extensive walking and up to 10 hours a day or more standing and/or performing other physical tasks as needed.

• Able to lift 30 lbs or more safely and properly.

• The ability to comprehend and articulate complex ideas.

• Work weekends, nights, overnights and holidays.

• The ability to work 40 hours a week or more as needed.
