San Diego Community Living Services is a teaching program that aims to assist persons with disabilities by providing each participant with the highest level of support and assistance. Our services are designed to create an opportunity for participants to build a partnership with service providers and develop self-reliance.
Independent Living Services (ILS):
A program designed to help participants to live independently. The Independent Living Services program includes assistance with finding a place for participants to live and providing training to assist with skills so that participants are able to maintain an independent life.
Skills emphasized range from:
- Budgeting
- Household chores
- Meal planning
- Shopping
- Making appointments
- Accessing community services/activities, and more.
As independence with tasks increases, staff will help with other tasks as old goals and training for already learned skills are phased out.
Tailored Day Services Option (TDSO):
Tailored Day Services Option offers participants a variety of opportunities to experience various aspects of life. These various settings for activities are intended to enhance the crucial skills needed to be a successful, integrated member of their community.
One-on-One Tailored Day Services include:
- Job exploration
- Vocational Development
- Volunteer Opportunities
- Community Integration (Participation in community integration and socialization skills using daily life skills)
- Personal Safety
- Transportation
- Assertiveness and Self-advocacy
- Recreational and Leisure activities
- Post-Secondary Education (Supporting individuals in their desire to seek higher levels of education, such as attending college, adult school and or trade school.)
- Enrollment and course selection
- Academic and career planning
- Executive functions
- Resources and accommodations
As a Lead Coordinator for our agency, you will be part of a team whose responsibilities will include:
- Coverage of staff for our ILS and TDSO Programs
- New Referral Intakes
- Attend quarterly meetings, IPP meetings, as well as semiannual and annual meetings, on an as-needed basis only.
The ideal candidate Must have the ability to plan and multi-task while still being flexible. Possess effective communication skills, and have a flexible schedule. The Lead Coordinator must also have well developed interpersonal skills.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Minimum of one-year experiences as a Coordinator or working with individuals with disabilities, preferably in a community setting. Related experience may also be considered.
If hired, we will guide the Lead Coordinator in obtaining the following required certifications-
-CPR & First aid certification
- Background check
-TB test
-CA Driver's License
-Full Coverage Insurance (100k-300k in Bodily Injury)
-Clean driving record
Also required for this position are:
-Reliable vehicle
-Ability to transport participants in own vehicle
-Ability to travel throughout San Diego County, as needed.
-Proficient with tablets
-Bachelor Degree in Human Services, or experience in Social Work (preferred)
