In the online classifieds business it is key that we know what chance an advertisement has of being of interest to a buyer, enabling us to rank the advertisements we show accordingly. As a working student/intern you will be supporting our data scientists in crunching data to model click probability for our pay-per-click business proposition. Many characteristics determine the chance that an advertisement will be clicked on by a buyer; you can think of ad quality, buyer characteristics, the position and type of placement of the ad on the site, etc. Your tasks will include running and writing Python/Spark jobs to extract data, testing and validating which characteristics can improve model performance. You will work closely with our data scientists and engineers, will build up a lot of hands on experience in working with online data and get to use tools like Python, Spark, R and Hive in a real business setting. Requirements: * You are an ambitious and driven student who loves to solve quantitative problems. * You are in your third (or higher) year of your university studies in a field such as computer science, mathematics, physics, or any STEM field. * You have working knowledge of Python (mandatory) and/or Spark (nice to have) * You are comfortable working with large datasets and data wrangling (SQL skills would be great) * You have basic knowledge of machine learning and statistics * Pro-active and willing to develop your data skills Marktplaats is a Subsidiary of eBay.
