The Barista is an integral part of the Bakery in that (s)he is often the first person to come in contact with the guest and therefore creates the first impression most people have of the restaurant. This initial contact can either come on the phone or in person. So whether you are answering the phone or greeting a guest at the door, always be friendly and accommodating.

As a Barista, you are responsible for the complete knowledge of service of coffee, bar beverages and baked goods, and as such, are responsible for guest satisfaction. It is therefore required that each Counter Server has a complete knowledge of all of the food and beverages served in the bakery and cafe.

As with any other position in the restaurant, remember that you are always on stage -- everything you say and do can be seen by the guest. Therefore, you must be at your best at all times.










Requirements

Job Requirements
Barista must be able to offer help with any general Bakery questions as well as menu food and beverage questions. The Server must be able to make menu suggestions (suggestive selling). It is very important to have a thorough understanding of the restaurant's general information as well as menu food and beverage information and ingredients.

When necessary, the Barista will also assist with preparing orders for baked goods and making drinks.

It is the Barista's responsibility to accurately handle all cash and charge transactions. At the end of the shift, each cashier will reconcile all transactions, tender all cash and 'check out' with the manager.

It is also the Barista's responsibility to perform all Counter Sideworks and keep the bakery areas clean, stocked and organized.
