Flexographic Print Press Operator & Helper

A graphics and printing company in the south suburbs is looking for an experienced Press Operator.

These are 1st and 2nd shift positions; 6:00am-3:30pm Monday through Friday or 2:00pm-12:30am Monday thru Thursday. Pay will be based on experience but will range from $12-$20/hour.

The main responsibility of the Flexographic Press Operator is to set up and operate a flexographic printing press according to instructions.

Duties will include the following:

• Read job travelers, interprets blueprints and proof approvals to determine printer setup, methods and sequence of operation, following all appropriate ISO procedures.
• Sets up press, installs specified printing plates and dies into press.
• Mixes and matches colors to PMS book.
• Makes adjustments to the position of print to print registration and print to die registration.
• Inserts shaft through core of paper or plastic roll and secures roll on press in feed position.
• Splices end of roll to trailer sheet remaining in press and makes adjustments to regulate roll tension and feed.
• Starts press, adjusting speed, tension, and registration of printing plate and dies.
• Cleans printing plates, dies, and lubricates press.
• Completes production records using a computer format in order to maintain cost, efficiencies, inventory and integrity.

Requirements:

• 1 to 3 years flexographic printing experience. Experience operating Webtron 650, Roto press or similar flexographic press is a plus!
• Ability to load, set up and changeover printing presses, including ink selection and color matching without the assistance of a press helper.
• Experience with troubleshooting and general maintenance of press.
• Basic computer skills including data collection.
