Responsibilities

$5,000 Sign on Bonus with 3 year work commitment

$3,000 Sign on Bonus with 2 year work commitment

Ensures that the vehicle and all items of equipment are stocked, clean, and ready for use.

Operates an emergency vehicle, responding to emergency and non-emergency scenes and transporting patients to appropriate destinations. Skilled in all aspects of emergency vehicle response, medical rescue and other related EMS specialties including principals of incident command systems and Unified Command.

Operates assigned ambulance in compliance with Mercy Hospital-El Reno ambulance operating policies. Demonstrates knowledge of special needs and behaviors of specific age groups to include pediatric, adolescent and geriatrics.

Demonstrates knowledge of the changes associated with aging.

Demonstrates the ability to provide care based upon the physical, psychosocial, cultural, safety and other age related factors.

Demonstrates the ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient's needs.

Demonstrates effective and accurate verbal and written communication

Demonstrates support for administrative decisions in verbal communications.

Communication is timely, accurate, concise, complete and appropriate.

Sending appropriate messages and taking responsibility for the message.

EMS record is written in a legible, logical manner and updated promptly with response to therapy and changes in condition.

Demonstrates awareness of the need to create a positive climate for interaction between patient, family and health care team members.

Channels constructive criticism into effective change.

Maintains strict confidentiality of patients, employees and hospital business.

Demonstrates willingness to assist when asked.

Demonstrates flexibility in responding to patient /department needs.

Shows initiative in seeking out appropriate additional duties.

Ensures a clean safe workplace which is stocked with necessary supplies

Conduct walk-through of rooms and restock emergency rooms with needed supplies each day at the beginning of the shift

Empty trash and linen containers as needed

Stocks linen as needed.

Turn over rooms after each patient use: Clean carrier, change sheets, restock supplies, dispose of used linen and trash, ensure equipment returns to its proper place, and take care of instrument trays according the current procedure.

Ensures that the patient is in a clean and safe environment.

Assesses patient to promote optimal levels of wellness throughout pre-hospital care. Implements patient care to assure comprehensive holistic care throughout pre-hospital care. Demonstrates proficiency in pre-hospital skills including; basic life support skills, advanced life support skills as required by the medical director and the protocols, procedures and policies of Mercy Hospital-El Reno Ambulance.

Delivers physical care, comfort measures and elimination needs to patients in a safe and efficient manner.

Ensures vital signs are recorded

Demonstrate knowledge of appropriate lead placement for routine cardiac monitoring and 12 lead ECG.

Perform 12 lead ECG on the patient according to Mercy Hospital-El Reno policy and procedures.

Demonstrate appropriate skills and level of functioning in accordance with policy/procedure and approved skills checklist.Demonstrates effective, concise, and appropriate, verbal and non-verbal communications with physicians,nursing staff and other emergency services personnel.

Documents information in a pertinent and concise manner, consistent with established policies and procedures.

Demonstrates appropriate radio communications including; fluency, organization, and accuracy.

Maintains confidentiality in all interactions. Participates in unit and organizational activities. Meets Health System attendance standards.

Attends mandatory meetings and required skill competencies to stay current in the position of Paramedic.

Participates in 75% of staff meetings.

Participates in process improvement activities such as data collection, in-services meetings, etc.

Participates in a hospital committee, special project or service (i.e. CPR instructor, preceptor) as requested.

Comply with organizational policies and procedures.

Current ACLS, BLS-C, and PALS or PEPP.

Accurately completes clocking transactions.

Maintains hospital property and the hospital environment in a safe, clean and intact condition.

Adheres to universal precautions and all infection control guidelines.

Assists patients in transfer using proper body mechanics and transfer techniques.

Demonstrates techniques for providing a personalized, open, professional and caring atmosphere and respect patient in regard to the Patients Bill of Rights. Demonstrates behavior that supports and maintains established policies and procedures. Promotes an environment supportive of cost-effective quality patient care.Assumes responsibility for continuing growth and education in his or her profession.Demonstrates consistent, appropriate work habits and demeanor which contribute to the effective functioning of the department and institution and which encourage patient advocacy, interagency teamwork, maturity and professionalism. As a public safety team member, assists in all active patient rescue activities by cooperating with other public safety support agencies. Performs ambulance service duties including: maintaining required records, reports and documents, cleaning and maintenance of ambulance service property. Observes universal precautions consistently. Wears proper personal protective equipment when appropriate. Wears clothing and Health System badge consistent with dress code and Mercy Hospital-El Reno Ambulance uniform policy. Attends to personal hygiene to maintain a clean, well-groomed appearance. Performs additional duties as directed.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Graduate of an accredited EMS training institution as prescribed by the department of transportation, the Oklahoma State Department of Health and State Law

Licensure: Currently Licensed by the State of Oklahoma as an EMT-Paramedic,

Experience: 1-2 years experience as an EMT-Basic preferred

Certifications: Nationally Registered, Current CPR certification,ACLS certification

Other: Computers, MS Office, MS Word

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Certifications: CCEMT-P certification,PALS, Prehospital Trauma Life Support, Basic Trauma Life Support, Neonatal Resuscitation, Emergency Vehichle Operation
