The Payroll & Benefits Specialist is primarily responsible for handling payroll and benefits inquiries; compiling and recording employee time and payroll data; computing deductions, wage adjustments, processing garnishments; and preparing several payroll and business reports. Lastly, this role partners with our employees to communicate benefits information, facilitate enrollment and ensure ACA reporting compliance.
What We're Looking For
• Assist in processing of multi-state payroll, including garnishments, benefits and taxes for 4,000+ employees consistent with federal and state wage and hour laws
• Process, research, maintain and respond to internal/external payroll and benefits inquiries including garnishments
• Process all monthly benefit enrollments, cancel enrollments for termed employees, send COBRA notices, reconcile premiums collected vs premiums owed and collect outstanding premiums accordingly, administer FMLA and personal leaves.
• Maintain employee payroll data in HR and restaurant systems, assign applicable exemptions and deductions, and accrue paid-time off for eligible populations
• Review and validate time sheets, deductions, and other information to detect and reconcile payroll discrepancies
• Process all paid time off and paid sick time requests
• Review and prepare per diem, bonus and travel time payments
• Ensure the accurate and timely processing of transfers, promotions and terminations
• Validate employee data in systems and make needed corrections
• Leverages knowledge of regulations, business processes and operations to initiate change

* Two or more years' experience working in a payroll or benefits function or HR shared services environment
* Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
* Proficient with MS Office tools; strong Excel knowledge
* Experience with HR data and time keeping systems, including reporting functionality; UltiPro knowledge a plus
* Detail oriented with strong organizational and time management skills
* Demonstrates intellectual curiosity and challenges the status quo
* Able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
* Completes tasks with minimal direction and supervision
* Maintains confidentiality at all times
* Ability to effectively multi-task and adapt to shifting priorities
