DESCRIPTION
This OPS Certified Licensed Practical Nurse will work varied days, Monday through Friday typically varying hours between 8-6pm averaging 30 to 40 hours a week at the Children's Medical Services building at 2390 Phillips Road, Tallahassee in the specialized medical field of pediatrics under the direct supervision of a Senior Registered Nurse Supervisor.
The incumbent may be eligible for health insurance benefits and investment plan.
The LPN will perform certain clinical, care-coordination and administrative duties in a pediatric clinic under the direction of a Registered Nurse and/or Physician. Clinical duties may include preparing patients for examination, pre- and post- clinic counseling, facilitation of clinic flow, assistance to physician, provision of diagnostic testing (e.g. EKG, A1C, blood glucose), disease-specific patient and family education, phlebotomy and administration of ordered medications/immunizations, documentation in the Electronic Medical Record, reviewing documentation and preparing records prior to clinic, post clinic record review and other clinic duties as assigned.
Assists in care coordination activities: Reinforces the physician's orders and plan of care as a member of the CMS team of physicians, nurses, social service coordinators, and other related personnel. Updates and maintains a patient assessment and care plan in accordance with established care coordination guidelines using the current electronic medical record program.
Assists in maintenance a patient assessment and care plan in accordance with established care coordination guidelines while using the current electronic medical record program, and updates these annually during the clinical redetermination period and as needed
Attends meetings and conferences directly related to and vital to the current concepts and practices adhered to in CMS nursing. Meets the continuing education requirements mandated by the Florida Board of Nursing.
Emergency Duty - Incumbent may be required to work during or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. Emergency duty required of the incumbent includes working in special needs or Red Cross shelters, or to perform other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural
Administrative duties may include scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, cleaning of clinic equipment, participation in quality assurance processes, and inventory of clinic supplies, recording information in computer data base. Position requires lifting of youth for purposes of exam and measurements.
