About this job

Catering Leads at the U.S. National Whitewater Center (USNWC) are seasonal employees responsible for meeting guest needs during banquets and special events in order to ensure a memorable and enjoyable experience. Leads are responsible for coordinating and directing Catering Associates in the set-up, break-down, and execution of all assigned events. Catering Leads report to the Events and Groups Manager.

-Comprehensively review Event Orders (EO’s) with the Event Planners and the Events and Groups Manager in order to ensure all event needs are acknowledged and understood
-Act as a day-of contact for the event host, and demonstrate initiative in responding to requests and resolving challenges as needed, involving management when necessary
-Maintain a proper atmosphere in a banquet or special event setting – supervise the performance of Catering Associates, interact with guests, uphold a high degree of professionalism, monitor event time management, and make adjustments as needed
-Provide a proper dining experience by delivering items, practicing appropriate food handling, and replenishing food items as needed
-Review and record charges incurred during events
-Relay information regarding special needs, issues, or catering concerns to management
-Supervise the set-up and break-down of indoor and outdoor function space and the inventory and storage of supplies and equipment
-Maintain a clean, professional, and healthy appearance
-Maintain availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
-Maintain accurate knowledge of activities and products offered at facility

Requirements

Job Requirements
-High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
-Previous experience in hospitality, food and beverage, or customer service
-A friendly and approachable demeanor and strong communication skills for interacting with both guests and team members
-Ability to work in fast-paced, team-oriented environment

Physical Requirements
-Able to stand for at least 8 hours
-Able to lift at least 50 pounds
-Comfortable working outside in variable weather conditions
