About this job

The Banquet Supervisor at the U.S. National Whitewater Center (USNWC) works primarily with the Sales and Event Planning teams, while also collaborating with the Banquet Chef, to execute all catered group events. The Banquet Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the Banquet Department’s operation and staff and must ensure the department is achieving quality and operational goals. Banquet Supervisor is a full-time, benefits eligible position reporting to the Food & Beverage General Manager.

• Regularly review upcoming Events Orders (EO’s) and have a thorough understanding of all requirements for upcoming group events
• Obtain equipment and supplies needed for each event, ensuring customer expectations are met
• Prepare all required paperwork including forms, reports, and schedules in an organized and timely manner
• Act as a liaison between the Banquet Chef and the Event Planners to create and deliver a high standard of food quality, as well as food presentation, venue appearance and readiness
• Manage daily staffing levels and labor cost based on group bookings and the demands of other USNWC special events
• Lead by example and set a high standard for Banquet staff
• Oversee the training of Banquet staff and make recommendations for development, promotion, and disciplinary action as needed
• Comply with local, state, and federal regulations to ensure safety and sanitation in the workplace
• Maintain availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays with frequency

Requirements

Job Requirements
* Previous experience in a high-volume, banquet environment
* Excellent service skills, professional and mature demeanor, strong attention to detail
* Ability to work in collaborative, fast-paced environment
* Ability to adjust operations based on seasonal demands
* Ability to problem solve, prioritize, and execute multiple tasks
* Ability to motivate and manage staff
* Ability to walk and stand for long shifts

Preferred skills and qualifications:
o Bachelor's degree in Hospitality or a related field
o Proficient in all Microsoft Office programs
o Working knowledge of Micros, Hot Schedules, and Yellow Dog is ideal
o Servsafe certification or the ability to obtain certification within 60 days of hire
