About this job

The role of the Catering Coordinator is to oversee and facilitate the planning and execution of Catering/Outside Sales, as well as grow overall sales in the restaurant through networking and business development practices. The Catering experience we provide should enhance and grow our overall sales, as well as enhance community awareness and build loyalty to our particular Chick-fil-A location. The Catering Coordinator will work closely with the Marketing Director for planning ideas and best practices in execution, as well as creating and following a budget (including Sales Goals) for Catering/Outside Sales.

DELIVERIES

  • The Catering Coordinator should be aware of when and where deliveries are to take place, and will work closely with all management (including Directors, Managers, and Team Leaders) to ensure the deliveries take place as scheduled. Execution of this piece includes ensuring adequate scheduling for deliveries (particularly when there are multiple deliveries scheduled at least 24 hours in advance), or calling upon the Marketing Director or Operator for assistance with deliveries when adequate team member labor is not available.
  • The Catering Coordinator should be the primary (or first “go-to”) person for deliveries, when available and already working in the operations of the store.
  • When the Catering Coordinator is not available (or will not be working) to execute a previously-scheduled delivery, the Catering Coordinator should assign that delivery to another person in management or certifed Catering team member.

GROWING SALES

  • Cultivate and maintain excellent relationships with catering clients in order to build a loyal, repeat customer base.
  • Learn customer “favorites” and be aware of upcoming opportunities for which we might call upon these clients and offer our services. Partner closely with the Marketing Director to identify these opportunities, so that we may execute sales calls and visits to encourage more frequent ordering.
  • Assist the Marketing Director in identifying potential new Catering customers, as well as assist in the marketing and advertising efforts to recruit such customers (including creating and/or distributing flyers, making sales or “business of the week” visits, and executing phone calls and emails).

RECORDKEEPING

  • Maintain accurate records for all things Catering, including the order book(s), processing payments (including invoicing and coding “promo” items for giveaways/food distribution), maintaining a client database for marketing purposes, etc.
  • Maintain the Catering email account, including responding to questions, processing orders, etc.

Depending upon the skills and experience of the person hired for this position, additional responsibilities could include taking the Cow out for community appearances, distributing food at community events, assisting with donation requests, and assisting with fundraising for community groups and schools.

The Catering and Business Development Coordinator should be somewhat flexible to be able to adjust his/her schedule according to the needs of the business. That being said, the Catering and Business Development Coordinator should generally be available Monday-Saturday, 8am-3pm (approximately 30-40 hours per week), when the bulk of our Catering and Business Development opportunities exist. When not performing Catering duties, the Catering Coordinator will be scheduled to work in the store, particularly during lunch peak (11am-2pm).
