Job Summary

The Design, Planning and Economics group of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Planning Intern for immediate employment in the Arlington, VA office. The intern will serve on multi-disciplinary planning projects for mainly military installations and federal agencies as well as urban, community, and environmental projects. As part of the project team, the intern will assist in developing creative and innovative solutions to address clients' issues. AECOM is searching for candidates that have the ability to be a role model, be client-focused, be impactful and be decisive.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

+ Support senior planners and/or project managers in producing documents, reports, graphics, 3D modeling, and materials for community outreach

+ Compile data and conducts research in support of project delivery

+ Work under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member

+ Compiling data and conducting research in support of project delivery

+ Creating graphics to support the planning documents

+ Play a key role in the preparation of plans

+ Write sections of planning reports and documents

+ Produce material for project meetings and workshops

+ Communicate effectively with project team and manager

Minimum Requirements

+ Currently in pursuit of Master's degree in Urban and Regional Planning or related field

+ Positive outlook and can-do attitude approach to tasks and teamwork

+ Exceptional writing, research, analysis and communication skills

+ Excellent time management skills and ability to balance priorities

+ Effective problem solving and analytical skills

+ Efficient and organized worker with a high level of attention to detail

+ Ability to work independently as well as in multi-disciplinary teams

+ Apt at developing creative and innovative graphics and project layout

+ Follows guidance well with little oversight

+ Proficient with ArcGIS, AutoCAD, Sketchup Pro, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and Adobe Indesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop required

+ Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications

+ Entry level to one year of related experience with internships

+ A university student with no more than one academic year remaining before earning a degree preferred, these students are typically seniors in university. Contingent upon a positive performance review, a successful intern may receive an offer of full-time employment.
