About this job
Each of the three City on a Hill Schools in Boston and New Bedford will have a small cohort (9-12) of tutors.CORPS members each work with approximately 18-24 CoaH students each day.
AmeriCORPS members will deliver individualized instruction in literacy and numeracy. The CORPS seek to meet students at their entering achievement levels and advance them past grade level.
AmeriCORPS exists to bridge the achievement gap and prepare urban students to be successful in college. Tutors identify student-specific areas of weakness and work to improve skills.
AmeriCORPS members have responsibilities including:
- Tutoring
- Mentoring
- Developing strong relationships with families/guardians
- Leading extracurricular activities (stipended)
- Tracking and reporting student results
- Helping with homework (academic support)
- Staff assistance
- Substituting for advisors as needed (stipended)
