Georgetown Community Hospital just a 12 minute drive from Lexington is currently searching for a Medical Technologist (MT) to join our Clinical Laboratory. You will utilize your knowledge of medical technologies in our clinical lab to provide information and insight needed for decision-making within a fast paced environment. This is a PRN opportunity for someone looking for extra shifts or for someone looking for their entry way into a clinical laboratory as an MT. Your Associates Degree, ASCP or AMT certification or board eligibility are the minimum qualifications.

You would have the opportunity to work with a strong and high functioning team in our lab that not only serves the needs of the hospital but performs testing and other functions for physicians and organizations in the community. As an MT Medical Technologist you will have the opportunity to learn, apply evidence based practices, and boldly make decisions for the best interest of patients. We are a solid team of Med Techs and looking for someone to pick up shifts with us as needed.

Job Responsibilities

* Performs calibrations and Quality Control when required and is responsible for verifying the integrity of such testing

* Performs proficiency testing

* Assists in keeping policy/procedure manuals up to date

* Assists in keeping supplies at adequate levels

* Participates in Hospital Wide and Departmental Performance

* Performs phlebotomies and collects other specimens such as urine drug screens when necessary

* Responsible for Hematology, Urinalysis, Serology, Coagulation, Immunohematology, Microbiology, and Chemistry testing accurately and in a timely manner to meet Hospital Core Measures and Goals (including therapeutic drugs and immunoassays)

Education and Certifications

* Associate's degree in a Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited institution minimally required

* Or Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology from an accredited institution

* Or Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science and have at least one year laboratory training or experience or both in high complexity testing (if working along)

* ASCP or AMT registered or board eligible

* Previous clinical / hospital experience preferred

* Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
