A successful Compression Technician will have an AAS degree from accredited college and/or minimum 2 years experience in computer systems, IP networks or related technical discipline with network certification a plus.  Must be detail oriented and willing to work shifts.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating/maintenance/procedure instructions
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Knowledge of advanced networking protocols
  • Computer use and trouble shooting skills
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions
  • Ability to work alone or unsupervised
  • Must be a US citizen or a US Permanent Resident.
  • Ability to visually monitor CCTV screens and respond to audible alarms
  • Abililty to lift 50 pounds with another employee
  • Long periods of standing may be required when installing equipment
  • Ability to use a ladder up to 5 ft above ground

 

 

Dish Technologies in Quicksburg, VA is looking for a Compression Technician who will be responsible for assisting the Compression team in maintaining all compression systems at the uplink facility while learning the various responsibilities and troubleshooting techniques of digital audio, video, and RF.  

 

Primary responsibilities fall into the following categories:

  • Monitor all compression systems and report discrepancies or anomolies.
  • Switch defective equipment to backup.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting.
  • Complete preventative maintenance as assigned.
  • Assist Senior/Peer Compression personnel in specialized tasks.
  • Work with other departments and personnel to resolve service issues.
  • Meets deadlines and completes assignments in a timely manner while maintaining quality standards.
  • Plans and organizes work to accomplish desired objectives or goals.
  • Assist with managing facility access by third party service providers.
  • Provide assistance receiving and shipping items for installation, repair, or reassignment.
  • Provide back-up support to the ESO department and become proficient in general operations and duties. Must be able to past ESO 90-day sign-off examination after training period.
