Summary
Gateway Builders is searching for carpenters with good morals, and a positive attitude. We are looking for all skill sets, from a helper to a journeyman. Standard work includes framing, sheetrock, taping/ compounding, building/ installing ceilings, painting, flooring, installing millwork, light masonry, and installing doors/ frames/ hardware. This job requires attention to detail and the ability to perform manual labor for at least 8 hours per day.
General Responsibilities of All Carpenters
These are included only as an illustration of the various types of work performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position.
• Be punctual: arrive on time, don't stretch breaks, leave on time
• Be skilled in what you say you are skilled in (don't lie about skills)
• Have a thirst for knowledge, learning, and bettering skills
• Have a positive attitude
• Keep a clean work area
• Measure, cut, & shape wood, metal, plastics & fiberglass
• Problem solving on the fly
• Build from drawings and plans
• Basic math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions
• Seek additional responsibility and guidance from company management to enhance skills, learn new skills, and create potential for advancement within the company
Apprentice $18-$23/ hr
An apprentice is skilled in many different areas of carpentry. They have at least 2 years of experience with carpentry and can complete most tasks on their own. Responsibilities of an apprentice include:
• Ability to complete basic carpentry tasks
• Understands how to properly: Frame, install sheetrock, compound, paint, hang/ install doors, install ceilings
• Thirst for knowledge (must always be looking to learn how to better their skills)
• Can take direction from a Journeyman partner
