About this job

We have an opening for a part time Meat Clerk.

Pay will be based on experience. No experience is required but preferred. If you are willing to learn and have a strong work ethic, then we can train you.

Shifts will typically be Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday ranging from 12:00 to 8:00 PM.

Must be able to work within a group and perform any task that is assigned.

POSITION SUMMARY

Perform routine functions, such as, but not limited to wrapping meat, working back stock meat items, cleaning meat preparation room & cooler, and cashiering as needed. Service the customer as well as assist in maintaining proper store conditions.

KEY FUNCTIONS

  • Work closely with our Meat Market Manager and Meat Cutter to wrap trays of meat, work back stock items into the case as needed, help organize and maintain inventory levels in the meat cooler or freezer, and clean the prep room and cooler to meet or exceed quality control standards.
  • Stock product on platforms, shelving, peg hooks and in baskets or refrigerated cases as needed.  Handle equipment to move stock as needed.  Also, clerks are responsible for picking up after themselves, taking empty boxes or discarded cardboard to designated places in the store.  Responsibilities include assisting with unloading delivery truck and breaking it down per company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain store conditions as directed.  Responsible for completing cleaning duties as assigned, including floors, windows, display cases, shelves, register area, backroom, restrooms, parking lot, and other fixtures.  As needed, a clerk will bring carts in from the parking lot.  Responsibility includes ensuring customers and employees engage in protecting company property and merchandise at all times.
  • Operate register, if needed, and perform checkout procedures achieving a minimum scanning rate of 25 rings per minute and accurate handling of cash, EBT, checks, or gift cards.  Communicate with customers in a friendly and efficient manner.

REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

REQUIRED:  Must be able to communicate in English

ADDITIONAL SKILLS NEEDED

  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Able to work in an cool environment (40 to 50 degrees).
  • Job assignments include responsibility in perishable and general merchandise departments.
  • Frequently lift 30 lbs., occasionally required to lift up to 80 lbs.
  • Frequently stand for 4-6 hours at a time, occasionally longer.
  • Must be dependable and flexible.
  • Must adhere to uniform dress code.
  • Basic math skills required.
