Position Description:

All gaging & measuring equipment must be checked periodically to ensure that it is capable of the job it was intended to do, to measure parts accurately. In the vast majority of cases, this simply involves verifying that these calipers, micrometers, and test and dial indicators meet their performance specifications. In others, it requires adjusting their performance to meet specifications. But in any case, this process of calibration needs to be done on a regular basis. 

  • Performing gauge set-ups & issuing gages to floor ahead of production needs.
  • Maintaining gauge calibration system & performing calibration of standard gauges (Calipers, micrometers, thread gages, etc.)
  • Performing gauge maintenance to assure proper functioning of gauges.
  • Print reading including Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing.
  • Responsible for supporting SPM’s Quality Management System
  • Recording and analysis of data, collection of test samples, & writing reports, reviews, and project summaries.
  • Establishing & maintaining constructive & cooperative working relationships with customers & team members.
  • Perform day-to-day administrative tasks such as maintaining information files & processing paperwork.
  • Repairing & maintaining measuring and mechanical equipment.
Requirements:
  • At least 5 years prior experience.
  • Machine shop skills - machining, welding, CNC or other related field.
  • Excellent communication & customer interfacing skills - required to collaborate within the team as well as with lab customers
  • Able to keep an organized and detailed log of activeities.
  • Performing physical activities that require considerable use of arms, legs, and moving your entire body including: climbing, lifting up to 50 lb, balancing, walking, stooping, & handling of materials.
  • Associate degree or higher in a technical field - engineering, science, technology, or mathematics.
