About the Business Line

Our team of environment specialists offers clients expertise in air quality, impact analysis and permitting, environmental health and safety management consulting/due diligence, remediation consulting/engineering and construction/site restoration, specialty and emerging technologies, waste services and water and natural resources.

Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly talented and hardworking GIS Intern for immediate employment in the Burlington, NJ office. Position will report to the GIS or Media Supervisor when working with geospatial or digital data, a Laboratory Supervisor or Laboratory Manager when performing duties in the laboratory, a Crew Chief or Archaeological Supervisor when performing duties in the field.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

+ Work with the GIS and Media teams to process and analyze geospatial data, make maps, and other digital deliverables including ESRI Storymaps

+ May on occasion conduct archaeological investigations/excavations; screen soil deposits; take accurate field notes; draw accurate profiles and plan views; record archaeological field data (take field notes, draw profiles and plans, collect geospatial data); process artifacts (wash, mark, catalog); and perform basic analysis of artifacts (cataloging, research, and curation practices).

+ May on occasion conduct data collection and work with database development team as part of Delaware Historic Artifact Inventory Project

+ Any other duties assigned

Minimum Requirements

+ High school diploma or equivalent

+ Must be able to work effectively in both the office, field, and laboratory as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications

+ Currently or recently enrolled in an Anthropology, Archaeology, Preservation, or related BA or BS program

+ Have knowledge of basic GIS and geospatial data collection skills

+ Have knowledge of basic field excavation techniques, ability to process (wash, mark and catalog) recovered archaeological artifacts, properly fill out field and laboratory forms

+ Must have a valid driver's license with a good driving record and the ability to travel occasionally
