Tooling and Design Engineer

Siemens Healthcare's Ultrasound business is seeking an individual to join an engineering design team responsible for developing advanced technology ultrasound transducers.

The successful candidate will work in a dynamic environment as part of a transducer R&D team developing ultrasound transducers and associated tooling needed for precision prototype and manufacturing.

Responsibilities;

* Design, fabricate and/or outsource process tooling, jigs and fixtures for precision assembly work

* Design and/or specify tooling for automated assembly and test of advanced technology transducers

* Optimize processes for manufacturing; transfer tooling and processes to manufacturing

* Highly precise additive manufacturing design & methodology

* Create and update 3d models, drawings, reports and related technical documents

* Prepare material for ECO release

* New vendor selection, qualification and bring-up

* Maintain lab, process, test and infrastructure

* Subminiature electronics, Cabling and Assemblies design support

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:

* B.S. degree and 5 years' experience in mechanical engineering or related field, or equivalent education and experience

* Experience with manual and CNC machining

* Practical knowledge of metrology systems

* Working knowledge of material types -- steels, plastics, nonferrous materials

* Working knowledge of plating and surface treatments -- e.g. chrome plating, electroless nickel plating

* Experience in CAD and 3d modeling required, ProE/CREO preferred

* Excellent communication skills

* Ability to adapt to change and work in a rapidly-changing environment

* Domestic and occasional international travel required

The following skills and experience are not required, but are highly desirable for this role;

* Medical Device design experience very helpful.

* Experience in CAM programming using MasterCAM

* Experience with international vendors preferred

* Lab, test and Validation process experience

* Design for Manufacturing experience related to tooling support.
