About this job

The RN participates as a member of the health care team in delivering quality health care to patients, which supports Kaiser Permanente's mission, vision and values. The RN provides a variety of nursing services both in person and by phone utilizing the nursing process and leadership skills to address acute and chronic needs of Health Plan members and other patients of the Kaiser Permanente Health Care Program. He/she works under the general direction of the designated supervisor.

Essential Functions:

Basic Qualifications:

Experience

* Minimum two (2) years of nursing experience in acute care or ambulatory care/clinic setting within the last five (5) years.

* Minimum one (1) year of experience in the last four (4) years in dermatology, cosmetic care or wound care.

* Recent outpatient RN telephone advice and treatment experience.

Education

* Graduate of Accredited School of Nursing.

* High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.

Licenses, Certifications, Registrations

* Current Oregon and Washington RN license required. License in state where assigned required upon hire/transfer, application for license in secondary state required within 2 weeks of hire/transfer and must be obtained within 6 months.

* Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers required upon hire/transfer.

Additional Requirements:

* Demonstrates clinical nursing and leadership skills.

* Able to type 20 words per minute.

* Demonstrates effective interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills.

* Willingness to learn computerized information systems.

* Demonstrates ability to work within teams and within a dynamic work environment.

* Customer focused.

* Proficient nursing and triage and advice with the recognition of high risk lesions.

* Ability to maintain composure in a fast paced work environment and when working with complex and often frail patient population.

* Ability to successfully demonstrate clinical skills and abilities in accordance with KPNW and Dermatology Department standards within 3 months of hire.

* Ability to utilize best practices and perform to Case Management standards for large populations of Dermatology patients within 1 year of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Two (2) or more years of experience with medical dermatology patients.

* Previous experience with population care/case management, triage and advice.

* Bachelor's degree in Nursing.

* Dermatology nurse certification preferred.

* Demonstrated proficiency and accuracy in provision of phototherapy protocol.
