Job Summary:
Performs diagnostic electrocardiograms.
Responsibilities:
* Positions and connects leads from electrocardiograph machine to electrodes on specified body areas.
* Reviews patients record and instructs patients prior to procedures.
* Monitors patient during procedures and reports any abnormal findings.
* Identifies and corrects for wandering, interference, and artifacts.
* Edits and forwards results to attending physician for analysis and interpretation.
* Maintains EKG equipment and supplies. Other duties as assigned.
Education:
* High School Diploma or GED.
* Minimum six months training as an EKG Technician or Cardiovascular Technician preferably in a hospital setting or completion of an accredited Cardiovascular Technology, Paramedic or Medical Assistant Program.
Certifications:
* None
Complexity of Work:
* Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
* Must be able to work in a stressful environment.
Work Experience:
* Minimum six months training as an EKG Technician or Cardiovascular Technician preferably in a hospital setting or completion of an accredited Cardiovascular Technology, Paramedic or Medical Assistant Program.
Physical Requirements:
* Physical strength to assist patients into position for testing.
* Physical strength to transport equipment to various locations throughout the Cleveland Clinic facility.
* Extensive walking and standing.
Personal Protective Equipment:
* Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
