Family Birthing Center

The Family Birthing Center at CHI St. Luke's Health--Sugar Land Hospital offers incomparable care and amenities in a spa-like environment to give every mother a healthy and happy birth day. With our Nurse Navigator making the entire process easy and our expert medical team guiding mothers every step of the way, we offer comprehensive, patient-centered care that each mother and her family deserves. Join our team of experienced health care professionals including board-certified Ob/Gyns & Neonatologists, obstetrical nurses, neonatal nurses, and support team that is specially trained to make each mother's stay as comfortable as possible.

Will oversee all aspects of the women's health service line, including, but not limited to leading, staffing, budgeting, quality, strategic planning, and patient/physician satisfaction for all functions related to the Women's Health Programs. Reporting to the AVP/CNO the Director supports the leadership and management team through identification, analysis and assessment of market opportunities, development of strategic and business plans and projects, coordination and implementation of new business opportunities and marketing to St. Luke's customers and stakeholders (physicians, patients, employees and payors). The incumbent is also responsible for the financial management of funding for women's health, departmental budget and financial performance. Incumbent is responsible for the planning, development, implementation and on-going administration of operational and technical aspects of the service area.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree

Required Licensure: Registered Nurse (RN) as recognized by the Texas State Board of Nursing

Minimum years in field previous to employment: At least three (3) years of Nursing experience and two (2) years of progressive management experience in a Women's health setting (like a Nurse Manager or Director role).

Minimum Skills, Abilities and Knowledge: Strong interpersonal communication skills. Ability to prioritize and finish tasks, and maintain deadlines. Ability to balance the demands of the patients, physicians, and staff in a partnership community hospital.

1. Facilitates staff to assume leadership roles, both formally and informally, via role modeling.

2. Demonstrates positive leadership skills and communication that embrace change, which results in achievement of outcomes.

3. Articulates departmental goals and objectives that lead to active staff participation in clinical decision-making affecting practice.

4. Services as the management representative for Maternal Child services in fostering physician and patient relationships that creates trust and respect amongst the patients, physicians, and staff

5. Ensures that appropriate equipment and supplies are available to provide effective and efficient nursing care.

6. Ability to adapt to a fast paced, physician partnered community hospital environment that requires constant reprioritization of tasks and resources.

7. Develops a multidisciplinary program to monitor quality patient care indicators.

8. Maintains fiscal budget within established targets, overtime, orientation costs, SSP costs and medical supply costs.

9. Identifies hospital cost savings opportunities that are measurable.

10. Shared leadership in place with structured recruitment, retention and professional practice.

11. Complies with personnel policies and procedures, follows guidelines and conducts effective performance interviews. Ensures that employees understand job standards.

12. Ensures effective delivery of competent, compassionate nursing care based on social, psychological, developmental and spiritual needs of the patients, as demonstrated by patient care outcomes and achieved through established standards of care, evidence-based practice and by the patients and families perception of care.

13. Utilizes excellent patient/customer service principles.
