Reporting to the Director of Infection Control or the Director of Quality/Patient Safety, the Manager of Infection Control is responsible for the day to day operations, supervision and maintenance of a comprehensive infection prevention program for the facility or facilities. Provides leadership in epidemiology and risk reduction for patients, staff, visitors, and other healthcare disciplines. Implements and manages the daily operations of the infection prevention/control program in collaboration with the Clinical Leadership, such as the chief medical officer, chief nursing officer, epidemiology medical director and infection prevention and control committee. Promotes safe work practices and work environments are maintained. Provides leadership and oversight of department's infection prevention staff and resources. The Manager of Infection Control supervises a team responsible for implementation of the infection prevention program and ongoing surveillance and epidemiologic review of patients, employees, and the environment for their facility/facilities. The Manager uses and supports epidemiological principles and methods for identification and prevention of infectious diseases to patients and healthcare workers. In consultation with the Director, the Manager oversees, studies, and educates on all aspects of hospital functions related to surveillance, prevention and control of infections for all patient populations. The Manager fosters collaborative teamwork with the data support specialist/analyst and the Infection Preventionists (IP) to coordinate data collection and analysis and oversee the overall risk assessment of the inpatient and outpatient population. The Manager will also oversee the implementation of guidelines, policies and initiatives along with the classification and reporting of all HAIs and community acquired infections. The Manager holds staff accountable for the reporting standards as set forth by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and other regulatory bodies. The Manager serves as a leader for and collaborative partner with the local and state health departments.

Education:

Bachelor's degree and minimum of 3 years leadership experience OR minimum of 5 years leadership experience in the discipline without a Bachelor's degree OR Master's degree and no experience. Bachelor's degree preferred, Master's degree highly preferred. Registered Nurse, clinical licensure preferred. Certification in Infection Prevention & Control (CIC) or CIC eligible after 2 years.

Experience:

Clinical experience in nursing, microbiology or public health epidemiology and reporting methods preferred. Clinical experience in medical surgical, critical care, surgical services or other appropriate clinical experience preferred.
