The PA representative establishes and maintains quality customer service by providing customers with information about billing and insurance verification services, and various other hospital programs -- in person, over the telephone or in writing; responds to all patients for the admission process, completes appropriate forms, obtains proper signature(s), advises patients to rights and responsibilities, and collects deductible and co-pay amounts as applicable (strives to increase collections at time of service); prepares and processes patient accounts to insurance companies and assists with accurate and complete patient record-keeping by entering and updating all customer information; ensures customer satisfaction by courteously responding to billing inquiries, researches account and acts as liaison between insurance companies and patient, and properly records all account tracking; Schedules patients for all procedures in-patient/out-patient, including surgeries, radiology and laboratory testing. Accurately and efficiently processes a high volume of incoming, outgoing and interdepartmental calls providing information to callers and responding to caller requests in a professional courteous, confidential (HIPPA) and polite manner. Will collect monies and handle large sums and is responsible for reconciliation of end of date funds, deposits, etc. Demonstrates proficiency in using the integrated computer/telephone workstations and processes all calls for patients, facilities, staff, departments, physicians and community at large, assists in maintaining orderly office activities by performing clerical duties including filing, typing, record storage, and similar responsibilities. Responds to all codes in accordance with the Business Office Safety Plan to ensure the safety of all staff, patients and visitors; follows written computer based procedures to ensure that calls are processed according to individual facility guidelines. Accurately and promptly responds to, processes and documents all code arrests, fire alarms (including troubles, disables and tests) emergencies and disasters per established policies and procedures. PAR's demonstrate proficiency in assisting patients with the Health Insurance Marketplace through the state offered program and other duties as assigned. PAR may have varying shifts and may be subject to working staggered, altered shifts as needed to provide the continuum of care to the patient on or off site.

Education: High School Education/GED

Experience: Three years experience in hospital admitting functions preferred.

Special Requirements: Must have strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Effective human relations skills are required for interfacing with team members, all levels of staff, physicians, patients, families and other contacts. Must possess the ability to effectively function in a stressful environment. Must possess the ability to use the following equipment; Telephone/Overhead Paging System/Fax Machine/Calculator/Computer. As pertinent to the position, must be able to use computer, telephone, calculator and adapt to new technology as it becomes available and necessary for the job.
