Position Title: Fleet Maintenance Manager

Position Location: Salisbury, NC

Career Level: Manager

Position Summary:

Provide corporate oversight to Transportation Fleet Maintenance. Coordinate Fleet Maintenance Activities related to maintenance of Fleet equipment to support operations. Develop programs with Transportation input to meet maintenance objectives. Guide management in making sound business decisions regarding the procurement of fleet tractors and trailers as well as the necessary tools and parts and materials to support fleet operations. Maintain technical awareness to provide proper expertise in the latest advances in Transportation Operations. Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and other governmental regulations. Reduce costs related to Transportation operations (parts, tools, methodologies, equipment, etc.).

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

* Plan, organize, and direct the maintenance of the fleet at all distribution center fleet maintenance shops.

* Evaluate and recommend the reductions or additions to personnel, equipment, and inventory to support fleet maintenance.

* Direct the preventive maintenance program to minimize cost and maximize the life cycle of fleet equipment.

* Administer and participate in the development and preparation of designs, specifications, and cost estimates in connection with the procurement and/or modification of fleet equipment in consulting with internal business clients and manufacturer representatives

* Oversee the warranty recovery program to ensure maximum return.

* Coordinate corporate capital purchases for shop maintenance operations.

* Interact with vendors and suppliers to secure the most cost effective equipment, parts, and supplies to meet the needs of transportation maintenance operations.

* Evaluate and recommend changes based on vendor performance and the performance of their products.

* Ensure that there is a clear line of site regarding corporate goals and objectives with Transportation personnel.

* Assist with forecasting the fleet maintenance budget.

* Responsible for ensuring that fleet maintenance operations at each distribution center perform within budget guidelines.

* Analyze and recommend changes as needed based on analysis of budget and expenses.

* Actively identify and implement methods of reducing costs related to Transportation maintenance operations.

* Actively identify and implement industry best practices through the involvement with local and national organizations, professional development (meetings, seminars, training), and internal personnel.

* Ensure that fleet maintenance shop operations are in compliance with company policy.

* Observe, report, and coordinate the correction of all non-standard conditions at each distribution center fleet maintenance shop.

* Provide on-site assistance to Transportation Operation Managers and Transportation Supervisors.

* Strive to find more efficient ways to provide fleet maintenance to the Fleet while reducing costs and increasing productivity

RequirementsPreferred Qualifications:

* Master's Degree (or equivalent experience)

* 5+ years relevant experience

* Supervisory experience

* Has total understanding of the department's standard practice manual and program manuals.

* Understanding of operation and maintenance of department equipment

* Working knowledge of statistical techniques as they relate to maintenance operations.

Skills and Abilities:

* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

* Project Management skills

* Communicate effectively with all levels of management, associates and vendors.

* Able to handle multiple priorities

* Travel, some overnights.

* Desire and ability to lead a team

* Focused
