About this job

Under the immediate supervision of a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, licensed Psychologist or board certified Psychiatrist. Interviews, assesses & evaluates members who present themselves for psychiatric evaluation; provides professional counseling & treatment w/ the goal of maximizing personal/familial functioning.

Essential Functions:

* Interviews members to assess nature & extent of member's psychiatric problem(s).

* Develops, implements & evaluates treatment approaches for members. This may include individual, marital, family, group & intensive therapeutic modalities.

* Confers & consults w/ supervisor regarding member's progress & treatment & may consult w/ psychiatrist as well, if both are involved in member's care.

* May provide appropriate support to member's family, including explanation of treatment, instructions in how to support treatment & interventions to increase acceptance of & adherence to treatment, at member's request.

* Utilizes resources of public & private agencies & community organizations to meet the needs of the member's treatment to include referral of the member &/or member's family to external resources, as appropriate.

* Participates in departmental program development, implementation & evaluation. Reports safety concerns to mandated reporting agencies.

* This position does not have the authority to hire, fire or discipline.

Secondary Functions:

Ability to be an integral part of a cohesive multidisciplinary provider team providing care in the form of a therapeutic community for patients with chronic pain, substance use disorders, and other psychiatric issues. Role includes working closely with and integrating care with other departments - primary care, chemical dependency, psychiatry, and other specialty departments. The desire to be a part of a cutting edge and growing pain management rehabilitation program that requires providers from all disciplines to be flexible and open to expanding skills sets and their application to meet the needs chronic pain addicted patients. Knowledge and experience in group facilitation and the therapeutic community model. Assesses and manages psychological and substance use issues ongoing for patients entering the chronic pain program -- both at an individual level, a group level, and therapeutic community level.

Basic Qualifications:

* Master's degree in applied behavioral science required from an accredited college or university.

* Must pass the State Board examination w/in two (2) years from date of hire.

* Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
