Job Description:

Position Summary:

Incumbent is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, repairing, modifying, and making adjustments to electrical, electronic, and pneumatic process control systems and devices used in production, laboratory, office, and utility areas.

Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:

* Knows and applies the operating principles, purpose, and proper application of control circuitry, and final control devices used in closed loop and open loop industrial process control systems. This includes electronic, digital, analog, pneumatic, and mechanical methods of signal generating, conditioning, transmitting, and recording. Operates shop equipment such as hand tools, wrenches, air and electric powered portable hand tools and machine tools and a wide variety of electrical, electronic, mechanical and pneumatic tools

* Reads and works to the indicated accuracy, specifications, and tolerances as detailed on engineering drawings, machine assembly prints, machine construction prints, blueprints, sketches, equipment manuals, and vendor diagrams

* Sets up, operates, and reads field equipment including devices such as: ammeters, voltmeters, ohmmeters, potentiometers, thermometers, velometers, scales, tachometers, strobe lights, hygrometers, gauges, and recorders

* Performs mathematical calculations including trigonometry to determine electrical and electronic circuit characteristics and requirements

Troubleshoots and diagnoses equipment malfunctions and makes repairs or adjustments based on that diagnosis using repair parts, or by correcting existing parts or by innovation to select substitute parts

* Installs, troubleshoots, repairs, modifies, and makes standard adjustments to complete systems, system components, and circuits used in the measurement and control of current, voltage, temperature, humidity, speed, vacuum, pressure, level, weight, velocity, tension, flow, time, frequency, thickness, and density

* Troubleshoots, repairs, and makes standard adjustments to direct current and alternating current motor drive systems that range in size from fractional horsepower to hundreds of horsepower

* Troubleshoots, repairs, and makes standard adjustments to closed circuit television systems and two-way radio communication equipment

* Determines and uses standard soldering techniques

* Provides and maintains the minimum required quality and quantity of personal hand tools for use on the job as listed by management

* Completes required shop paperwork and uses reporting system following established procedures. This includes Daily Work Records, P.M. Route Sheets, Stock Withdrawal Forms, and other forms and records that may be required in the performance of the job or operation of the department.

* Submits work method improvement suggestions, craft training suggestions and other cost recommendations to supervisor

* Knows, applies, and can evaluate the operating principles and design limitations of electrical, electronic, mechanical and pneumatic components and devices used in process control systems and associated instrumentation

Quality:

Performs job requirements within the specified or shortest time possible and at the lowest cost and minimum waste.

Environmental, Health, & Safety:

* Properly handles Hazardous Waste as provided in annual training. Handling includes packaging, labeling, container inspection, and sealing

* Knows and uses safe work methods when performing the job requirements in hazardous and nonhazardous environments so as to avoid personal injury, injury to coworkers, or damage to company property

* Reports unsafe work conditions or equipment operation to supervisor immediately

Housekeeping:

* Keeps work area neat and orderly, contributes efforts toward the overall cleanliness of the shop. Cleans up general working area (shop and/or factory) at the completion of each job. Machine tools are to be cleaned and other tools returned to the tool crib or shop storage cabinets as appropriate. Broken or malfunctioning tools are to be brought to the attention of the shop supervisor or tool crib attendant.

General:

* Performs other duties of a similar nature or level as required

* Maintain regular and punctual attendance

Basic Qualifications

* Possess a High School Diploma/GED or higher

* Possess a two (2) year Electronics Degree or Diploma OR minimum of five (5) years of industrial or military Electronics experience

* Possess a current and valid Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience in sterilization equipment

* Training and experience in a variety of mechanical and electronic testing and repair

* Experience in measurement of current, voltage, temperatures, humidity, speed, pressure, level sensing, weight, velocity, tension, and flow

* Experience in Electronics installation, testing, repairing, modification, and programming of industrial process control system/instrumentation, and the communication links tying these systems together

This position will require:

* Working a fixed 1st shift

* Attending company authorized seminars, instructional sessions, and vocational school classes to maintain personal competence in new areas of technology, components, tools, methods, and practices

* Frequent physical demands, including:

* Occasionally squat, twist, climb height, reach above shoulder, crouch, kneel, balance, push/pull

* Frequently bend/stoop

* Lift and or carry up to 50 pounds

* Use hands for repetitive action including simple grasping, firm grasping and fine manipulation

* Working at heights

* Being around moving machinery

* Exposure to temperature and humidity changes

* Driving automotive equipment, including operating a company vehicle

* Exposure to dust, fumes and gases

* Frequently flexing and rotating head and neck
