Mayo surgical teams perform high volumes of complex operations including neurosurgery, cardiothoracic and transplant surgery.

This Certified Surgical Technologist role will be supporting Saint Marys Hospital in ENT/Ophth/Oral/Pediatrics. May also float to other specialties as assigned.

Responsibilities: The Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) provides care to the surgical patient under the direct supervision of the registered nurse and in collaboration with the surgical team. The CST performs primarily in the surgical scrub role preparing, selecting and maintaining equipment, instruments, and supplies. The CST possesses knowledge in the application of sterile and aseptic technique. The CST utilizes knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, surgical instrumentation and technology as member of the surgical team. The CST will float to a variety of surgical specialties, as necessary, to provide care to surgical patients.

Qualifications: Graduate of an accredited program of surgical technology under the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or current certification through National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).

Basic Cardiac Life Support for healthcare providers- BCLS -- certificate of course completion required and must not expire within 3 months after start date. A scanned copy of the certificate of completion or transcripts, including your full name, must be attached to your profile to be considered.

We will only accept certificates of course completion from the following providers:

* American Heart Association (Title: BLS for Healthcare Providers)

* Red Cross (Title: CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers)

* Military Training Network

Additional Qualifications: Adapts to unpredictable situations within the perioperative setting. Proven ability to communicate with a variety of people in a direct, empathetic, and articulate manner. Comprehensive understanding of surgical processes and procedures preferred. Two years successful surgical technologist experience in acute care, perioperative or surgical setting within the last five years preferred.

License or Certification: Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) competency. CST Certification through NBSTSA required prior to start date.

Compensation Detail: Minimum rate is $20.01 based upon union contract.

Hours/Pay Period: 80

Schedule Details: Variation of all shifts; All 8-hour shifts; Overtime and on-call as needed; 1 holiday/year (at this time)

Weekend Schedule: On-call as needed.
