Ambulatory informaticist

exempt, FTE 1.0 (Full-time, days, 40 hours)

Primary Function and Relationship to the Total Organization:

Ambulatory informaticist serves as an integral member of the IQ4 support team. Key responsibilities include direct involvement with the development, implementation, training and support of the electronic medical record. The informaticist identifies and seeks approvals for enhancement requests and assists in the prioritization and implementation process associated to this change. The role also serves as a liaison between IT and end users, and may assist with other applications as assigned.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Develop a complete understanding of the EHR application(s) and teach the application(s) to others within the organization, following the standardized and best practice curriculum.

Provide educational updates on clinical applications to physicians and providers through classroom and one-on-one instruction.

Identifies, tracks, and seeks approval for enhancement requests, and assists in the prioritization and implementation of these system changes.

Oversee EHR project implementation with a focus on on-going workflow assessment and educational needs of the end user.

Work closely with project team, IT, and clinic operations/management to ensure efficient and effective implementation of workflow changes.

Knowledge of governmental, quality and insurance related incentives through the use of the EHR, and educates others as needed.

Identify and develop EHR workflows to support process changes or other regulatory requirements.

Oversee and assess EHR competency levels of staff, physicians, and advanced practitioners and recommend action to strengthen performance and increase efficiency.

Work in conjunction with the ambulatory informatics trainer(s), if applicable, to maintain the EHR training curriculums and coordinate new employee or physician/provider training as needed.

Communicate all EHR-related information to affected staff, physicians and advanced practitioners in a timely and effective manner, using a variety of methods when appropriate.

Assist the end user and IT in problem-solving EHR/computer-related issues.

Coordinate data and reporting needs with the end user and reportingteam, as needed, and analyze data or submit reports as assigned.

Serve as chair on committees, as assigned, by developing agendas, conducting and coordinating meetings, and submitting timely documentation/minutes.

Provide input into the departments project plans and monitor and prioritize own task schedule based on the need of the end user and clinics.

Assure compliance with federal, state and local laws or regulations.

Serve as a key EHR resource to the clinics and administrative personnel within the assigned region. Assist other regions and team members as directed.

Demonstrate the ability to meet the department work schedule and provide regular status reports to the supervisor.

Be aware of what is happening in clinic/department and the organization by attending clinic/department meetings, reading emails and regularly checking information on the organizations intranet site.

Maintain compliance with CLIA, OSHA, Safety and Risk Management guidelines.

Maintain regular and consistent attendance at work.

Maintain compliance with Personnel policies and procedures.

Behave in a manner consistent with all Compliance and HIPAA policies and procedures.

Monitor environmental conditions in order to secure protected health information.

Perform other duties and special projects as requested by the supervisor to facilitate the smooth and effective operations of the department.

Reporting Relationship:

General supervision is received from the Manager of Ambulatory Informatics.

This position does not provide direct supervision to others.

Credentialing/Certification:

Must achieve Epic credentialed trainer status for provider and clinical curriculum within 4 to 6 months of hire.

Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in a health-care related field or equivalent experience (minimum four years) in medical practice management or care delivery, education training, or healthcare related IT systems.

Knowledgeable in computer applications required to perform job duties.

Ability to travel outside of assigned region or the state as required.

Must be able to demonstrate the ability to interact and communicate effectively with individuals of diverse professional, educational and lifestyle backgrounds.

Ability to maintain pleasant attitude toward patients, staff, visitors and peers.

Must be able to work independently and assume responsibility for timely completion of assigned functions.

Demonstrated skills in priority setting, problem solving, conflict resolution, negotiating and networking, decision-making, work delegation and organization.

Ability to understand and apply guidelines, policies and procedures.

Experience with healthcare IT applications preferred

Nursing or other clinical experience preferred.

Strong interpersonal skills.
