About this job

To lead and motivate others to achieve both the long and short term goals of the operation. Hire, train and maintain quality full time and student staff in order to provide customers with high quality products and service. Maintain service and product standards on a consistent basis. Assign the necessary personnel to specific schedule and tasks. Responsible for oversight and completion on customer orders, and food preparation. Keep operating, food and labor costs within the budget. Be actively involved in the preparation of the operating budget and marketing plan. Assure quality standards of customer service and cleanliness. Maintain effective communication with customers, employees and supervisors. Ensure proper cash handling procedures are adhered to. Provide functional supervision to staff. Work towards meeting stated objectives. Incorporate the Student Life Vision into daily operations to ensure that students are learning and developing leadership skills.

Required:

High school diploma/GED.

Four years food service and/or retail experience.

One year of supervisory experience.

Must be ServSafe certified within one year of employment.

Ability to perform all duties of lower level food service workers.

Stable work or education history with good attendance record.

Interpersonal competencies in communication, teaching others through coaching and other means, cultural diversity, and teamwork.

Competencies in dependability, work standards and productivity, interpersonal/intercultural relations, independent decision making and dependability, multi-tasking, flexibility, initiative and planning/organizing.

Ability to delegate authority and responsibly.

Ability to communicate effectively with supervisor and co-workers, perform basic math functions, lift and move up to 40 pounds, climb ladders and stand, walk, reach and stoop extensively.

Knowledge of sanitation.

Ability to meet daily deadlines.

Computer skills in Microsoft OFFICE & order processing.

Ability to work effectively with individuals from different viewpoints and backgrounds.

Preferred:

Food service experience in a high volume, fast-paced environment.

 

Additional Information:

This position requires the ability to work days, nights and weekends as it relates to Purdue Dining & Catering.

Overtime is based on business need.

Purdue will not sponsor an employment visa for this position.
