TODAY Digital, the multi-platform arm of America's favorite morning show, is looking for a Food Editor for our Food vertical. In this position you will coordinate with producers, senior producers, writers and recipe developers to create content for TODAY.com/food and our social channels.
Job Duties
* Write, assign, and produce beat news, recipes and features.
* Conceive and sustain original text & video franchises that can thrive online, across social platforms and on air.
* Work closely with broadcast bookers, producers and correspondents to tell food stories across the brand's platforms.
* Translate show segments into digital wins.
* Act as a digital stakeholder during multi-day show series and events.
* Fulfill sponsorship needs including contributing to section social accounts.* 5+ years' experience as an editor working in food journalism.
* Experience managing writers, both in-house & freelance contributors
* Must have deep knowledge of the digital food space, its competitors and innovations.
* Needs to understand general cooking terms and know how to edit recipes.
* Must have access to food writers, experts, recipe developers and a steady stream of timely and solutions-oriented content ideas.
* An innate ability to tailor content to platforms and audiences, from TODAY.com/food to Pinterest to Facebook to newsletters to social video.
* Strong understanding of how stories are shared and consumed differently across digital, social, mobile and email platforms, and ability to use analytics, to help guide story selection and distribution.
* Must have a rich portfolio of skills that demonstrates strong and fast writing and editing. Portfolio should include examples of clever and SEO-friendly headlining, strong social media skills, and light multimedia skills (resizing images, creating social videos).
* Enthusiasm for and willingness to contribute to other TODAY.com lifestyle sections as needed
* Bachelor's degree.
