Position Summary:

Perform operational checks, services, handles and repairs ground support equipment. Have a full knowledge of fuel systems, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, mechanical systems, gas and diesel internal combustion engines on ground support equipment. Perform engine overhaul. Familiar with ground safety procedures. Provides technical assistance, guidance and instruction to employees in the Ground Support Equipment Mechanic I classification. May be required to use hazardous materials in performance of assigned duties. Performs evaluation of various powered and non-powered support equipment for operation, serviceability or repairable. Will develop scopes of work for procurement & subcontracts, advises repair actions and manages vendor's services.

Qualifications Required:

AA degree in related discipline and 3 years of related experience. Or, must have a minimum of five (5) years documented hands on general support equipment maintenance experience, automotive experience or equivalent. ASE/SAE Certifications and experience are desired.

Functions and Responsibilities:

* Maintain, operate and perform preventive maintenance on Government Furnished GSE in accordance with manufacturer's documentation/instructions.

* Maintain, operate and perform preventive maintenance Company owned GSE in accordance with Manufacturer's Instructions, Company Instructions and the published maintenance schedule for this equipment.

* Assist with ordering parts, tools, material and equipment.

* Maintain cleanliness of the work center and around your assigned work area.

* Responsible for adhering to all applicable Foreign Object Damage (FOD) prevention rules and regulations.

* Responsible for adhering to the Company Tool Control Program.

* Must comply with established General and Industrial Safety Rules and Regulations as applicable to the contract, facilities and job assignment.

* May be required to perform Collateral Duty Inspector functions when qualified and certified.

* Recover downed aircraft when directed.

* Maintain appropriate records of all work accomplished.

* May be required to perform simple computer input.

* Uses publications to inspect, repair, service, troubleshoot and overhaul equipment.

* Must possess personal tools required to perform the work in assigned job classification.

* May be requested to perform the duties of Lead man.

* Assist when directed to ensure safety, security and preservation of Government owned and Company owned equipment.

* Perform other reasonably related incidental duties when directed within the job classification.

Knowledge and skills of the following are desired

* Ability to obtain and maintain a Forklift certification/license

* Maintain effective working relationships during the performance of duties

* Read, write and speak English at a level necessary for satisfactory job performance

* Ability to read and interpret information pertaining to safety rules, standard operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

* Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals

* Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form

* Basic keyboard and computer use such as creating, entering, retrieving and printing from Microsoft Excel, Word, etc.

* Must have working knowledge of Ground Support Equipment maintenance and repair.

* Knowledge of hazardous waste materials and safety precautions utilized by personnel.

* Must possess working knowledge of Microsoft Office software products.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

LICENSING, CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

* GSE Licensing *

Performance Standards:

* Annual merit performance appraisal;
