ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* Completes work assignments in a clean, neat and timely manner.

* Performs various building maintenance including light electrical work and plumbing.

* Uses machine tools and hand tools working with a variety of metals and other materials within prescribed tolerances as directed.

* Under supervision, analyzes malfunctioning machines and systems (Electrical, Mechanical, Hydraulic, Pneumatic, etc.), recommends corrective action, and upon approval, makes repairs or modifications as approved by supervision or Maintenance Mechanic IIs or IIIs.

* Performs water tests and changes chemical dosage appropriately based on tests results.

* Assists other mechanics as needed to increase equipment up-time.

* Maintains a working understanding of plant production processes, equipment, systems, and facilities in order to perform maintenance effectively, under general directions.

* Retrieves required tools, equipment, and instruments for assignments. Cleans-up and stores parts and tools as required.

* Participates in training in the Maintenance Mechanic I Roadmap modules. This includes successfully passing the Maintenance Mechanic I assessment and practical tests as defined by UTC Aerospace Systems Carbon Operations.

* Works with the Maintenance Group Lead to establish a personal development plan and work to achieve the goals of that plan.

Qualifications

* Minimum one year experience working in manufacturing environment with maintenance responsibilities.

* Ability to problem solve and exercise creativity to develop and/or implement practical solutions.

* Ability to evaluate his/her work and exercise judgment.

* Mechanical background with a working knowledge of hand, power and pneumatic tools.

* Ability to obtain a Big Joe License within three months of hire/transfer into the department is required.

* Ability to obtain a Forklift License within three months of hire/transfer into the department is desired.

* Must be able to frequently lift/carry .5-17 pounds throughout an entire 12-hour shift and up to 40 pounds occasionally.

* Must be able to work 12-hour night turn shifts.

* Must be able to work 4 (four) 12-hour shifts on consecutive days.

* Must be able to stand/walk constantly throughout an entire 12-hour shift.

* Must be able to frequently reach for and handle parts.

* Ability to work from heights, including ladders and scaffolds.

Education

* High school diploma or GED.
