About this job

Summary
Our foreman is responsible for ensuring jobs get done correctly, safely, on time, and on budget. This means meeting labor goals, meeting project deadlines, upholding company policies, and creating a pleasant, positive work environment for the crew. The foreman must plan, organize, schedule, supervise, and perform high level, rough, and finish carpentry with a crew of skilled and semi-skilled carpenters. They must be experienced in all phases of carpentry including: layout of framing, framing, sheetrock, taping/ compounding, painting, installing ceilings, installing millwork and molding, and installing door frames/ doors/ hardware. The ideal candidate is a detail oriented and driven person who isn’t afraid to get dirty and labor alongside their crew to get a job done.

Responsibilities
• Plan, schedule, supervise, and inspect the work of skilled and semi-skilled carpenters
• Ensures all work of their team is built as specified in blueprints, drawings, or specifications
• Perform rough and finish carpentry and related labor work as required
• Create and manage work crews. Assign them to jobs, and ensure they are working efficiently
• Inspect small bid requests and report time, materials, and manpower needed for completion to estimator
• Ensures all work is being conducted in accordance with all safety, cleanliness, and quality standards
• Give clear detailed instructions to carpenters
• Solve unforeseen problems in an efficient manner
• Submit 3-5 day look ahead material and equipment needs to supervisor
• Ensures tools and equipment are maintained, cleaned, and organized every day
• Ensure jobsites are cleaned before lunch and before leaving every day
• Complete, review, and approve time sheets
• Train, coach, and mentor crew to improve their skills and move up within the company
• Ensure the image of the company is supported through professional appearance and expert workmanship
• Establish and maintain friendly & effective working relationships with employees, colleagues, managers, and clients.
• Seek additional responsibility and guidance from company management to enhance skills, learn new skills, and create potential for advancement within the company

Qualifications
• Prior experience in commercial carpentry is a must
• Experience as a lead carpenter
• Can read and interpret all types of architectural blueprints
• Ability to estimate labor and material needs for carpentry jobs
• Communicate clearly and concisely in writing and orally
• Must be able to manage a team and foster a positive work environment
• Able to work & lead with little or no supervision
• Must have a smartphone with a data plan
• OSHA Card
• Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the construction trades
• Knowledge of the standard terminology, methods, equipment, materials, tools, and practices of the carpentry trade
• Basic math skills: Addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers, fractions, and decimals
• Basic understanding of technology including: Dropbox, time tracking software, word, excel, and outlook
