Position Summary: Nurse Director for Surgical Services for River Corridor and I-35 Corridor, which includes perioperative departments of OR/PACU/Pre-op/Endoscopy/Sterile Processing suites in Red Wing, Lake City and Cannon Falls. Supervision of Surgical clinics in Red Wing, Lake City, Cannon Falls, Owatonna and Faribault.

Partners with Operations Administrators of specialty practices and Medical Directors. Partners with I-90 Nurse Director.

Nurse managers across the two corridors report into this position.

Responsibilities: The Director is accountable for the implementation of the vision, mission and values of Mayo Clinic and nursing services within defined areas of practice. The individual is responsible for all inpatient and /or outpatient areas at a specific site or for service line across multiple sites. The scope of responsibility is with respect to leadership and management, planning and problem solving, quality assessment and continuous improvement, personnel management, systems, facilities, equipment and supplies management, financial management, and compliance with licensing/regulatory agency requirements. The individual is responsible for strategic direction and leadership for clinical nursing activities to ensure the provision of essential quality services to meet the needs of those served within the practice. The Director assists in the development and implementation of system wide policies and procedures, and leading and/or participating in various improvement teams to accomplish objectives at the system and departmental levels. The individual actively participates in appropriate decision making bodies. The Director will maintain a safe and professional environment.

Qualifications:

Graduate of an accredited baccalaureate nursing program (accredited program requirement is effective January 1, 2018 for MCHS MN sites). In addition, effective January 1, 2017 applicants for Director, Manager, and Supervisor roles must have baccalaureate in nursing to be eligible to apply. Effective September 1, 2019 all Directors, Managers, Supervisors hired prior to January 1, 2017 must have completed baccalaureate in nursing. All exceptions must come to Midwest Nurse Executive Committee for approval.

Minimum of three years RN experience.

Maintains current Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from one of the following programs: American Heart Association or American Red Cross (required by January 1, 2017).

Additional Qualifications: Minimum of two years of healthcare management experience.

Preferred Education: Graduate of an Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) accredited Master's in Nursing or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program, business, or health related field as approved by Mayo Clinic Nurse Executive Committee.

Experience in the department's specialty (e.g., Emergency Room, Operating Room)

Any additional specialty certification/training as required by the work area.

Knowledge and experience with quality improvement and change management processes.

At least two years experience of nurse management in a perioperative setting is strongly preferred.

License or Certification: Current state RN license or current license deemed acceptable by the State Board of Nursing in which the RN practices.

Compensation Detail: Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum salary every 2 weeks is approx $4119.20, based on a full-time position.

Hours/Pay Period: 80

Schedule Details: In General 7:00 am - 5:00 PM, day shifts.

Exempt position so hours may change based on workload and meetings.

Weekend Schedule: Not normally
