Independent Living Skills Worker Job Responsibilities

An Independent Living Skills (ILS) Worker provides clients with the training and resources needed to develop the skills necessary for independent living. The goal is to maximize client independence in the community.

Specific tasks for Independent Living Skills Worker:

  • Update Access list weekly
  • Change of Information forms
  • Case Chronologies (weekly)
  • Initial development of Individual Program Plan (at SOC)
  • Periodic Individual Program Plan Reviews (bi-annually or more often as needed)
  • Discharges
  • Weekly client time cards
  • Weekly visit time slips
  • Adult Protection reports
  • Annual SA/VA renewals

Skills

  • Ability to work independently

Qualifications

An Independent Living Skills Worker must have a four (4) year degree in Human Services, preferably in Occupational Therapy or Social Work, or other degree considered with enough experience. A qualifed Independent Living Skills Worker will have one (1) year of experience in a Human Service field.
