Best Friends Fur Ever Dog Daycare and Overnight Resort is looking for full time dog loving employees to add to our team. If you love dogs, and are willing to work hard to get to spend your days with them, this job is for you. It’s a lot of work and can be high stress at times, but it’s also very rewarding.  Applicants must be available to work various shifts.  Employees must keep the daycare environment, including kitchen and storage areas, clean and organized. Clean and maintain floors, windows, kennels, etc. Dispose of trash and animal waste. Perform routine housekeeping tasks such as laundry, dish-washing, vacuuming and mopping etc. Clean and maintain other areas, as directed, including assisting with cleaning kennels. Attendants must be able to read dog body language and take care of dogs in large free-roaming packs. Must be able to tell when problems between dogs may occur, and keep them from happening in a safe, positive way. Must be able to memorize large numbers of details regarding individual dogs. Great deal of cleaning required. Job involves a lot of very physical work, standing, bending, and moving around. Follow safety and sanitation policies throughout facility in order to maintain standards of excellence. Must be willing to work on weekends and holidays. Business operates 365 days per year 24 hours per day.

Previous experience with dogs preferred. Must be able to work weekends and holidays Must be dependable and reliable. Must be able to work independently and multi task as well as work as part of a team environment. Must have great customer service skills. Must be able to do light typing and able to operate office equipment (i.e.: copy machine, fax, printer, computer, phones, etc.). Must answer phones, answer customer’s questions, and schedule appointments. Must have a high school diploma or G.E.D. Must have the ability to safely lift 50 lbs. MUST adore dogs!

Compensation: 8.75 to start, performance based increases at 90 days 180 days and 1 year; annual thereafter.

Job Responsibilities. A Dog Handler I will be responsible for the following duties as assigned:

Assist in Supervising Dog Play Groups ·

  • Must be able to be on your feet and moving on uneven terrain while monitoring and interacting positively with dogs of varying sizes and energy levels
  • Must be able and willing to intervene utilizing proper techniques, if necessary (average maximum dog weight = 150 pounds)
  • Must be comfortable, reliable, and confident in groups of 20-50 dogs per interactive play group (staffing ratio is approx. 1:20)
  • Must be able to work for 3 hours straight without a break or sitting down.
  • Must be willing to be “hands on” with the dogs.
  • Must be able to bend down to let out dogs in bottom crates
  • Must be able to maintain calm demeanor when occasional scuffles and other obnoxious behavior occurs.
  • Must be able to physically maintain footing when dogs jump on you and knock into you
  • Ensure proper feeding of each dog, according to dietary requirements.
  • Ensure clean bowls and clean water are provided at all times.
  •  Must be able to physically bend and reach repetitively to ensure each dog receives appropriate meal.
  • Must be able to lift bags of dog food (up to 60 pounds) and to re-supply food areas.
  • Bathe dogs as required.
  • Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds into the tub
  • Must be able to maneuver to reach all areas of the dog (including feet) to bathe, rinse and dry.
  •  Clean up Patrol (aka Poop Patrol)
  • Must be able and willing to remove feces (poop) using proper waste management protocol, disinfect and clean up
  • Must be able hose/rinse/scrub large areas of ground indoors and out
  • Must be able to assist in moving crates (approximately 60 pounds) as needed
  • Must have good communication skills with our human clients
  • Must have a friendly demeanor and act professional at all times while on premises
  • Maintain required documentation and records for 100-200 different dogs daily (medication, feeding, first aid, and grooming logs)

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

High School Degree or G.E.D. · Genuine care and concern for caring for dogs of all sizes and needs. · 6 months experience working with animals in some capacity.

Physical Requirements: · Must be able to walk and be outside the majority of the day in every season. · Able to lift 50-60 pounds repetitively on a daily basis · Must be able to hear and discern the meaning of vocal communications between dogs · Must be able to move easily and quickly on a steeply graded hill over tiers of varying heights = max tier height = 3 feet · Must be able to use hands and lifting techniques to lift dogs from crates of varying levels. · Must be able to use hands to write and notate client records · Must be able to verbally communicate with dogs and humans · Must be able to use a shovel, broom, and other tools to complete job requirements · Must be able to work various shifts which vary from week to week.
