Primary Responsibility

Under direct supervision, accurately compound non-sterile and sterile medications, completely fill out records, dispense medical prescriptions, and ensure that the pharmacy runs properly.

Key Duties and responsibilities

 

  • Receive incoming telephone calls.
  • Order entry and pharmacy fulfillment using both the OE/GP and NRXsoftware.
  • Work with all departments (i.e. accounting, marketing, sales, shipping, andcredit) in the order fulfillment process.
  • Ensures the compounding room and related equipment are cleaned andmaintained per organizational policy and procedure.
  • Be knowledgeable of prescription products and availability.
  • Communicate complete and precise information to internal and externalcustomers about all prescription products and their uses.
  • Receive and verify all incoming medications, chemicals and supplies.
  • Participates with the pharmacist and pharmacy manager inmonitoring/maintaining drug inventories and preparing orders for drugsand related supplies
  • Adhere to all established pharmacy concepts, practices and procedures.
  • Make outgoing refill and marketing calls.
  • Ensure that the clean room(s) are appropriately maintained
  • Performs and records various quality control activities including endproduct sterility testing and media fill. Reports all "positive" results to thepharmacy management immediately.
  • Prepares sterile compounds

 

Other functions

 

  • Ensure that all required documentation is on file. Prepare correspondence.
  • Update customer files as required.
  • Filing and other general office tasks.
  • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Represent the pharmacy in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Additional Duties and/or projects as assigned by the Director of Pharmacy and/or the General Manager

 

Qualifications:

  • Must have no prior felony convictions.
  • High School diploma is required.
  • Must have ExCPT or PTCE certification
  • Compounding experience is a plus but not necessary.
  • Ability to take direction and grasp pharmaceutical concepts required.
  • Above average mathematical skills needed.
  • Knowledge of all order fulfillment functions essential.
  • Precise, detailed and thorough with excellent follow up skills.
  • Knowledge of NRX a plus, but not necessary.
  • Qualified candidates must have excellent verbal, written and computer skills with the desire to work in a multi-task environment.
  • Word processing skill of 30 WPM at minimum.
  • 2-3 years experience in a pharmaceutical environment preferred.
  • Light lifting of up to 25 pounds.

This is a full time non-exempt position. Work schedule is Monday through Friday.
