POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Perform testing to evaluate medical devices, components and materials against specified requirements. Develop, fabricate and maintain electrical test systems, fixtures, and test protocols. Assist engineers to evaluate and improve designs. Document work in detail to support regulatory filings in accordance with Medtronic procedures.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Build and test electrical testing systems (test development, fixture fabrication, equipment qualification, test operation, maintenance).

* Manage laboratory equipment calibration/location. This includes coordinating with metrology department to ensure the group's equipment is compliant.

* Execute or facilitate printed circuit board assemblies (order components, populate PCBs, etc. or work with local vendor to execute quick turn builds)

* Execute material, component and device testing to support product development objectives in accordance with engineering test plans.

* Prepare drawings and/or initiate ECO's to complete documentation and build requirements for designs, tooling, fixturing, and/or processes.

* Demonstrate persistence, strong attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot and solve problems; these skills are required to make high-precision laboratory measurements with limited supervision.

* Take responsibility to complete assigned tasks within prescribed schedule with limited oversight while adhering to project plans including timeline and budget.

* Diligently follow protocols and painstakingly document work for inclusion in reports to support regulatory filings in accordance with Medtronic procedures.

* Identify, communicate and implement continuous improvement ideas by identifying critical deficiencies and unmet needs.

* Executing radio and safety tests or working with external vendors to execute these testing workstreams

* Perform required training and certifications to demonstrate compliance with applicable divisional and corporate policies in accordance with individual training matrix.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION, THE FOLLOWING BASIC QUALIFICATIONS MUST BE EVIDENT ON YOUR RESUME

* GED + graduate of a 2 year technical or engineering certificate program or an AS degree in an engineering or technical discipline

* Experience reading electrical schematics (e.g. PCB layouts, PCBA assembly drawings, etc.)

* Experience in electrical techniques (e.g. soldering, debugging/troubleshooting circuitry & test systems)

* Experience with test instrumentation (i.e. oscilloscopes, power supplies, etc.)

* Minimum 8 years experience as a technician in a professional environment with experience in both mechanical and electrical

* PC skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

* Bachelors of Science degree

* GMP, QSR and ISO 9001 experience

* Experience using and writing test programs (i.e. Labview, C, C++, python)

* Proficiency data acquisition and test user interfaces preferred

* Experience with medical or consumer device product development, testing and/or manufacturing

* Proficiency with Altium, Cadence Allegro, Cadence SiP, Solidworks, some type of SPICE/PSPICE simulator (i.e. LTspice)

* Experience with EMI/EMC testing

* Strong written and verbal communication skills
