Responsibilities* BASIC FUNCTION AND REPONSIBILITIY

The University of Michigan, School of Nursing (UMSN), Office of Undergraduate Studies is seeking a Student Success Coordinator. S/he will primarily be responsible for delivering a variety of high-quality student services to the student population at the School of Nursing. This person will manage all student events at the School of Nursing including budgets, logistics, and all other operational tasks related to these events and activities as well as support student related mentoring and diversity programs.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Coordinate Student-related Events:

Plan and execute student-related events including, Sophomore Commitment Ceremony, Student Wellness Initiative, Student Clubs, graduations, commencement, receptions, annual level orientations, Annual Career Fair, Fall Welcome, Cocoa days, study break snacks, student engagement, NCLEX preparation activities, Accelerated BSN Program events (if applicable), and others.

Manage all logistics and ensure all events are operationally effective. Coordinate scheduling of facilities, A/V or other equipment needs and services.

Work closely with faculty to plan and implement level orientations regarding class and clinical.

Plan and implement all tasks associated with student graduations.

Collaborate with the Career Center to hold events throughout the year.

Perform regular financial analysis, ensure responsible fiscal management, and meet budget targets for all student events.

Create clear documentation of all processes and update them after every event.

Analyze, compare, and evaluate various student events and other services and make recommendations on the best course of action in collaboration with the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies.

Establish and develop business relationships with internal and external vendors for events, and finalize negotiation with approval of the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies.

Maintain master event planning calendar to ensure there is no conflict among the various events planned at the School of Nursing by other stakeholders.

Design, plan and implement activities for undergraduate students at all levels that promote student engagement with the School.

Manage the Sophomore Commitment Ceremony including inventory and/or books to be given away (Notes on Nursing); reserve event space; update and order programs; order refreshments (if applicable); work with administrators to plan speakers; contact and schedule speakers.

Manage the Student Wellness Initiative including reserve event space; order refreshments; event set-up and cleanup; work closely with students to develop and implement wellness activities; work with faculty regarding student wellness initiative planning and any implementation related to academics and courses.

Design and implement activities for senior undergraduate nursing students that promote preparation for NCLEX.

Student Communications:

Manage 'The Pulse' student newsletter for the Undergraduate Program students.

Advise and coordinate the dissemination of appropriate information with communications representatives from student clubs; serve as club advisor to student clubs.

Provide information about NCLEX to juniors and seniors; meet with senior students to answer questions about NCLEX; advocate for NCLEX preparation; and meet with undergraduate students identified as high risk for NCLEX.

Assist with the preparation of event materials to include invitations, flyers, brochures, programs, guest list management, RSVP confirmations, gifts, etc.

Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers. Effectively communicate with team members and other offices internal and external to the School. Ensure seamless processes and provide accurate and timely follow-up with all constituents.

Student Related Data:

Analyze and interpret benchmarks such as EBI, Kaplan, to ID high risk students and achievement goals. Mentoring/Diversity Programs:

Collaborate with faculty to support the faculty mentoring program.

Collaborate with students to support the student-to-student mentoring program; coordinate events, meet with students, and develop outcomes.

Manage the undergraduate 'diversity' program/multicultural by planning events, meeting with students and developing outcomes.

Other:

Manage inventories of Spirit Wear and Undergraduate Program student patches, i.e., document inventories, maintain records, issue receipts, plan and implement sales times in lobby, order additional items as appropriate, work with other staff to deposit money.

Organize and maintain student lounge space including updating appropriate materials in common posting areas.

Manage special projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications* NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience :

A Bachelor's degree in nursing is required; Master's degree in nursing is preferred. Three (3) or more years of experience in the student services area including events/activities coordination expertise or equivalent experience is required; five (5) or more years of experience in the student services area including events/activities coordination expertise or equivalent experience is desired. Registered Nurse with a current nursing license in the State of Michigan is required for this position (current licensure or willingness to obtain licensure). Demonstrated proficiency at the advanced level with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint). Candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, organizational and meticulous attention to detail and presentation (large and small groups) skills. Must be able to manage multiple responsibilities and have excellent time management skills; especially as they relate to event logistics and operations. Attributes :

Experience in creating BusinessObjects queries and knowledge of M-Pathways data is preferred. Working knowledge of applicable University policies and procedures is preferred. Strong project management skills preferred. Ability to work independently as well as effectively in teams.

Work Schedule Shift/Hours/Days: 8:00 a.m. -- 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday; some occasional weekend and evening hours may be required.

Salary Range: The maximum 12-month full-time rate for this position will be $54,000; however, this is a 10-month seasonal position, thus the maximum earnings will be pro-rated to $45,000.
