Responsibilities* * Please note: this is a grant funded position and you may work on-campus or in Cummings Great Expecations, a Flint Community School building

Family Engagement Coordinator (duties are not listed in priority order):

Provide a safe, healthy learning environment for children birth to twelve years Effectively support the management of classrooms by promoting consistency and high expectations for all children Foster the connection between home, school and community by bridging the gap Attend & Facilitate Family/Teacher Orientations Manage & Promote Family Engagement Activities Initial Intake & Enrollment of Services for Children Enrollment & Retention of Children Advocate & Initiate conversations and action for family involvement Provide Social Media Outlet for communicating with families Work with a small team that assists with coordinating activities and programs Guide and support a developmentally appropriate curriculum guided by the Reggio Emilia Approach which promotes physical, social & cognitive development Work within the community to support student learning outreach activities to promote community interaction and relationships that are beneficial to children and families being served Provider Outreach Visits to support quality care in area licensed early childhood centers and homes Ceate priority list for services Support teachers in Family Meetings Work with and support teacher presentations Maintain proper paperwork for families, children & staff accurately & in a timely manner Record Keeping (photo documentation for family events, sign in sheets, portfolio of events) Coordinate and implement ongoing initiatives to reach families in nontraditional ways Plan and Implement Monthly Family Education Meetings Create Learning Stories and/or Event Stories Represent the quality of programs offered at Cummings Great Expectations by providing tours, enrollment information, & community outreach opportunities Provoke ideas and scaffold adult's and children's knowledge through problem solving, representational work and conflict resolution Maintain a commitment to professionalism by being a current & actively involved member in local, state & national organizations Present effective observation, teaching & mentoring methods to local, state & national conferences Counsel, listen, advise, gather information as needed or requested Conduct meaningful & engaging meetings, training opportunities, and collaborative documentation discussions Support the organization & supervision of field trips or outside of classroom experiences Ability to work with all individuals promoting diversity, tolerance and understanding of all Promote a welcoming & nurturing program through enhancement of the environment in classrooms and all common spaces for teachers, children, families, students, faculty & other campus or community members Administer first aid and medication within policy guidelines Perform every aspect necessary to insure excellent child care Build community partnerships & make community outreach efforts in order to strengthen programming, marketing & referral services for families Exhibit a commitment to the mission & philosophy of the Center and its Administration

Required Qualifications* * Bachelor Degree with emphasis in Early Childhood or Social Work or Psychology within six months of date of hire proven by official transcript and expected course completion

* A minimum combination of two years of full-time teaching experience and/or field work at the infant, toddler, preschool or early primary level

* Knowledge of and ability to adhere to the Licensing Rules for Child Care Centers

* Excellent communication skills

* Excellent organizational skills, including effective supervisory experience

* Excellent attendance

Maintain certification in infant/toddler/adult CPR and First Aid

Be willing to work off-site from the campus of the University of Michigan-Flint

Desired Qualifications* * Infant Mental Health Training

* Possession of a valid teaching certificate with a ZS endorsement granted by the State of Michigan

* Experience with Great Start Readiness Program and/or Early Head Start Standards

* Knowledge of the Reggio Emilia Approach or Montessori Practices

* Knowledge of Accreditation through NAEYC

* Experience with Home Visiting

* Knowledge of Looping and Continuity of Care

* Supervising and Mentoring Experience

* Experience working with children with special needs

* Experience in sign language or foreign language
