Job Summary The Department of Radiation Oncology is actively seeking a Editoral Manager for book and journal work.

Responsibilities* The Editorial Manager (EM) schedules and participates in bi-weekly conference calls with the Editors. This includes the creation of agendas for discussions in regard to books, journals, periodicals, other publications, and related business. Project status reports are sent to the Editors on a continuous basis.

The EM works closely with the Editors on bookwork, in particular, the 11 th edition of Cancer: Principles & Practice of Oncology (PPO 11), and the quarterly chapter updates for Cancer: Principles & Practice of Oncology , 10/e (PPO 10). The EM invites authors for the publications and follows up throughout the entire process (from invitation to review of materials and beyond). The EM also provides guidance for the authors and ensures that authors complete their work in a timely manner. The formatting of materials (text, tables, and figures), obtaining of permissions (from authors) and other necessary documents including CTAs (letters of agreement/conflicts of interest) are the responsibility of the office. The office processes Editors' decisions, returns chapters/manuscripts to authors for revision and forwards the final accepted chapters/manuscripts to the publisher.

The Editoral Manager of The Cancer Journal: The Journal of the Principles & Practice of Oncology is responsible for collecting and preparing the materials for each issue. This role includes inviting Guest Editors and authors for theme issues and processing of all materials. The EM is also responsible for tracking of all submitted materials on the journal's website and for working online.

Responsibilities are not limited to editorial work and can include administrative duties for healthcare providers as well.

Required Qualifications* Some college education (preferably in English or journalism), 6 to 8 years of related experience.

Desired Qualifications* Bachelor's degree with 8 or more years medical writing experience in a biomedical, pharmaceutical or medical communications.

Demonstrated collaborative writing experience on documents reviewed by multiple, cross-functional reviewers and by external authors.

Solid understanding of publication practices.

Experience analyzing and communicating scientific and health data.

Experience with systematic literature searches.

Knowledge of pertinent software (eg, MS Office, EndNote, Adobe Illustrator).

Work Schedule Flexible work schedule.

This position is funded for a minimum of five years.
