Responsibilities*

Student staff in the Admissions Office are referred to as Admissions Ambassadors and are held in high regard. Admissions Ambassadors are a dynamic, self-motivated group of students who have a passion to share their UM-Flint experience with prospective students and their families. Student staff in the Admissions Office perform a variety of tasks, including, but not limited to, giving campus tours, providing front desk coverage, calling prospective students, as well as performing a variety of detailed oriented administrative tasks such as processing mail, data entry, filing, and scanning, etc. Being an Admissions Ambassador is a position of great responsibility but is also a very rewarding experience for students who want to build upon their professional experience prior to graduation. Students who are specifically interested in a career in higher education should strongly consider applying.

Required Qualifications*

Must be a current University of Michigan-Flint student (enrolled for Fall semester) and have been a student for a minimum of one semester. Must have an extremely outgoing personality and be involved on campus through at least one club or organization. Must have extensive knowledge of student life opportunities. Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher preferred. Must be a self-starter. Detail oriented students preferred. Current or former Orientation Leaders preferred.

Availability: Must have 15-20 hours a week to be available for work, and the ability to work at least 10 hours. To accommodate daily and group tours, this availability must include Fridays from 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM and at least once a week from 8:45 AM-10:30 AM and once a week from 2:00 to 4:30 PM. In addition, students need to be available from 8:00 AM -2:00 PM on the majority of following dates:

November 12

Interested students must submit a cover letter with their resume. The cover letter needs to include their activities on campus, as well as an explanation as to why they would be an ideal fit as an Admissions Ambassador. Students should pay close attention to their ability to meet the requirements for availability prior to applying.
